CBS RADIO HEAD ORDERS 'MUST CARRY' TO STATIONS FOR CLINTON BOOK SPECIAL
**Exclusive**
Move over Rush Limbaugh!
Bill Clinton is set to hit the talkradio waves with a live special promoting his new book -- one that CBS has ordered a "must carry" directive for all of its news affiliates, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.

Each and every one of CBS's news and talk stations will be required to take the Clinton book radio special, now scheduled for next 6 PM ET Thursday -- whether local programming management wants it or not!
"It's going to be like one big commercial for the book! Why didn't Mr. Clinton's publisher just buy an hour," one angry executive for a CBS news station said late Monday. "This is not news, this is marketing. I already feel dirty!"

Other CBS radio excutives are excited about Clinton finally appearing on live talkradio.
"I can't wait for the callers," said one CBS radio suit.
The one hour session titled "CLINTON CONNECTS WITH AMERICA" will be moderated by CBS EARLY SHOW host Harry Smith.
The program appears to be part of a larger cross-promotion platform package with Clinton and CBS parent VIACOM.
The former president is set to sit with CBS's Dan Rather at the Clinton library in Arkansas for Sunday's CBS 60 MINUTES.

Arghhhh! . . . Please pull it. When I searched, I was stuck in 'keyword' search instead of 'title (date)'. Sorry.
CBS's next order: "All Listeners Must Listen Whether They Want To or NOT!!"
Should we ask about Monica, coccaine, Waco, or Vince Foster first?
Ohhhhhh!
One thing I have found is that I am one of the few left who believes this. When I see newspapers with ads on the front page, I cringe.
Id like to call and act like a Clinton fart catcher to get by the screeners, then ask him about Sudan and the Osama offer, but I wont, Im watching the paint dry that night..
The flagship station, WCBS-AM in NYC carries the Yankees games. If they preempt a game while I'm in a car, I'm going postal!
The next you watch and listen to Shepard Smith do his "Carnival Barker" routine on FOX--think about this:
...from the article above..."It's going to be like one big commercial for the book! Why didn't Mr. Clinton's publisher just buy an hour," one angry executive for a CBS news station said late Monday. "This is not news, this is marketing. I already feel dirty!"...
Marketing=News=Entertainment=Acting skills.
I always liked the understated Tiffany ad on the front page of the NYT...but I agree that the publicists get away with an awful trashy bit of promotion these days purporting to be news.
Everybody . . . this is a duplicate post. The original is here. Sorry, my bad.
Burns me up when I think of all the times CBS didn't carry Dubya's addresses. Yet they'll demand affiliates carry Bubba's sales pitch.
Been there done that..even have the T-shirt
Time to hit the FCC with some serious protests.
I can't imagine a more boring show.
Although these two did invent Yellow journalism.
I lose money but running it this way, but at least I can sleep at night.
I believe the front page and opinions page both should be free of ads....they are too important to be cluttered up with ads.
As for sports, fill the whole dang thing up with ads for all I care (not much of a sports fan...lol).
I wonder if they will use a dump button for callers profanity? If so, they may not be able to air any callers.
I agree....I can only imagine that during "the broadcast" not many radio's will be tuned in
I wounder If clinton is on the radio and nobody listens is he really on the air...or just full of hot air
I tuned to the really local news-talk station that carried the ABC feed without the breaks.
I already turn the radio off on any station that starts with cr@p like CBS is trying to pull.
BTB, didn't CBS just dump their radio honcho? (in favor of Les Moonves?)
I wonder if this had anything to do with it?
It was the traitors at CBS that insisted upon publishing the Iraqi prison pictures. Americans have died and will die because of CBS.
