NEW YORK (CNN/Money) - McDonald's Corp., the No .1 fast-food chain that's been on a mission to its revamp its image, said it will offer Coca-Cola's new low-carb "C2" cola in a limited number of its restaurants.

Oak Brook- Ill.-based McDonald's (MCD: Research, Estimates), announced late Thursday that the company is sampling C2 in about 27 restaurants in five markets, including Atlanta, New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and Orlando.

"We're responding again to what our consumers are telling us they want," Don Knauss, McDonald's chief operating officer of its North America division, said in a statement.

Sad sad day..Mcdonalds might just as well stop selling hamburgers and fries and start selling tofu and rice cakes.

I hate their new tagline "I'm Lovin' It". The music, the ads, it all seems to be targeting metrosexuals and women (same difference, I know.) I think if I became CEO of a company like McDs, first thing I'd do is fire everyone in marketing. And not replace them.

They already had it. It was called diet coke. If they are going to add something how about a diet Sprite or a diet root beer?

I sent a little love note to McD's earlier this week regarding many of their stores not flying the flag at half staff. [click here]

After a couple of rum and Diet Cokes, you don't hardly notice the diet part at all.

Same here. Amongst Pepsi and Coke, I rank them:

Diet Coke
Pepsi
Diet Pepsi
Coke

But C2 has a number in the name, therefore is better. (rolls eyes and sheds a tear over this kind of stupidity)
I'd be really interested to see if a Diet Coke tank is used to fill the C2 bottles/cans.

I agree. Much better than Diet Vanilla Coke - that's awful.

As a kid, my aunt used to take me to a store with an old lunch counter and they made vanilla Cokes and they were awesome. Of course, that's when I drank regular Coke. Now I only drink diet.

So when I first saw Diet Vanilla Coke in the store, I bought a case of it, since there were no individual cans or bottles yet. I couldn't even finish one can, it was so bad. Very disappointing.
