Communist Software (you may have it)

Mozilla is a web browser that is essentially what used to be Netscape. There are many reasons to dislike Mozilla. The fact that it is slow, hogs up resources and is unusable is probably enough of a reason not to use it. You can also add promotion of mass murder to the list. At the Mozilla Party website you get a good look at their logo.
I suspect the only way to make the developers of Mozilla realize there is nothing cool about communism is by sending them to North Korea to die. Not to many people actually use Mozilla, instead, it usually is found under the following names:
Netscape
Phoenix
Firebird
Firefox
Galeon
If you want to boycott mozilla, there are many better alternatives Linux: Konqueror,Opera
Mac: Safari,Opera
Windows: Internet Explorer, Opera

Just a little public service announcement, in case some of you have this trash on your computers. If you know people/companies using these products, encourage them not to by showing them what it stands for.

Although I will complain to them about that picture, I us a varient of Mozilla(Camino) and could not be happier. You recommend IE for the Mac, so that shows your complete and utter stupidity(can't call it ignorance since you claim to know what you are talking about).

Explain why Mozilla is Communist software.
Rationally, if you find that possible.

Don't forget FlashPeak's alternative - SlimBrowser.
Free download available at www.flashpeak.com
Nothing but positive results with it; kills PopUps, lets you search directly from the toolbar, has a form filler available, lets you open multiple sites with tabbed browsing AND no Commie logo!

Internet Explorer is also based on Mozilla.
And Linux is all open source, so you won't escape the Communist yoke there either.

While the graphic design is reminiscent of old USSR propaganda posters, I hardly think this qualifies Mozilla as a "communist" enterprise. And headlines like this up on FR just make us all look like silly paranoids.
To: minus_273
You forgot to point out that another version of their browser was called "Phoenix". Which means that they also promote a reincarnation cult and probably Zoroastrianism.

The fact that it is slow, hogs up resources and is unusable is probably enough of a reason not to use it. Mozilla is a large package that includes a full browser and email client setup. If you are using it only as a browser then you are using it incorrectly. Try Firefox. It is a smaller and faster browser. Same goes for Camino. And they both whip the ever-lovin' pee out of MSIE.
If you find Mozilla unusable then you are doing something wrong. Pack up your PC and return it to where you bought it.

While the overall metaphor of the advertisement and logo is definitely along the lines of.......'Power to the People through our software'.........in the end I think its just an advertisement.

I use both Mozilla and Firefox on my home machines.
why? Because of the trash software that attacks IE all the time. Sorry, I won't go back to IE. I have to use it here at work, but I sure as hell don't have to use it at home.
Now, why do you think it is "communist" anyway? I don't quite get it today for some reason.

To: minus_273
At the Mozilla Party website you get a good look at their logo. Sorry, but I have to call BS on this one. I always considered giant, fire-breathing megalizards to be more libertarian or even democratic than communist in philosophy. There has NEVER been a recorded instance of a megalizard ravaging Tokyo unless it was attacked first (Japanese nuclear testing threatening its environment, etc.). Further, while communism encourages a privileged uberclass which holds all the power and authority, megalizards simply destroy everything in sight without even a hint of favoritism. Even the most recognizable star of the megalizards, Godzilla, lives in the same neighborhood as the Gameras and Megalons of the world - egalitarianism in action. You never see a megalizard living in a dacha (or even a nice bungalow in the Hamptons) or riding around in a Zil limousine paid for with the sweat of the working classes.
To: Brett66
yeah, and if that were artwork that looked like nazi propoganda (red, black and white angled swastika and all). Same crap different name.

Starting with Netscape 7, the Communicator browser is powered by Netscape Gecko. If it is a variant of Mozilla, then it diverged at that point. Netscape.com and Mozilla.org are seperate entities.
To: minus_273
You make a great point. At first it seems like a harmless prank or inside joke some of their artist had put together, but Stalin, Mao, Castro and gang killed billions of people and made the lives of billions more a living hell. If a company tried to use nazis symbols the same way, everyone would recognize it for what it is. Why is communism any different?
