Ronald Reagan information Page
President Reagan ^ | 6/5/04 | President Reagan

In honor of the greatest President of the 20th century, we proudly present the award winning President Reagan Information Page! In the spirit of "Winning one for the Gipper" we bring you the truth about the Reagan Era. The President Reagan Information Page is celebrating a decade online! We are proud to have been a source of inspiration and education for people all over the world and look forward to the next decade of inspiration and education.

This home page is dedicated to the winning of Cold War and the resulting freedom for hundreds of millions of people; to the revival of the American Spirit from a point of near-surrender to one of unparalleled greatness; and to the Reagan Era expansion—one that would grow to become the greatest peace-time expansion in U.S. history. The Reagan Era was a time in which every income quintile saw gains in overall wealth and income, a time in which the middle class gained the most and our economy grew by a third.

Ronald Reagan championed four "Pillars of Freedom": individual liberty, economic opportunity, global democracy and national pride. With this site we hope to educate people throughout the world about his achievements.

HIGH FLIGHT

Oh, I have slipped the surly bonds of earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth
Of sun-split clouds -- and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of -- wheeled and soared and swung
High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there,
I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung
My eager craft through footless halls of air.
Up, up the long, delirious burning blue,
I've topped the windswept heights with easy grace
Where never lark, or even eagle flew.
And, while with silent, lifting mind I've trod
The high untrespassed sanctity of space,
Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.

--John Gillespie Magee, Jr. (1922-1941)

Ronald Reagan believed we could bring down the Iron Curtain when few others had the courage or the faith. President Bush says we can eliminate Islamic terrorism and establish free markets across the world instead of fascism or communism. Today, I think we should each commit ourselves to having faith in President Bush's vision. If we could tear down the Berlin Wall in two generations, we can crush the Islamic and communist totalitarianism all across the world, and we can get it done in one generation or less. The alternative is too dark to consider. This is our challenge, and we must answer it together.

Let's roll!

Yes, there are parallels to the character and single-mindedness of President Reagan in President Bush. And also in the vilification both endured, although that directed at Bush is unprecedented.

Everyone is mourning today, and I've shed a few tears myself. But I think it's a good thing that all across the Anglosphere we're talking about President Reagan's accomplishments, and not just his life. We're talking about what changed in the world and why -- because of him. Because of Ronald Reagan and his allies like Maggie Thatcher believed and accordingly did, we are free.

I know President Bush and all patriotic members of the free world (that's all of us) are thinking about the next challenges and how to handle them. Let's hope we're half as faithful and staunch as they were!

You said it well - so well I have nothing more to add. With tears in my eyes for Ronald Reagan, I look forward to the world he created for us. Cheers.

President Reagan, while much maligned when he was in charge, has proved to History that he had the makings of a truly great President.

The 80s were a dangerous era, where the world could have gone nuclear on many occasions, and where pressure was to be exercised with the skillfulness of a great surgeon. President Reagan did just that, using every weapon of the democratic arsenal to bring down the greatest threat to freedom since Hitler.

He did build bridges between the US and Europe - I still remember General Haig's visits to NATO and French forces in the early 80s, or the "Farewell" spy case. I also remember the discreet cooperation between US intelligence operations and the French forces fighting the Libyans in Chad in 1984. He also contributed in turning the then G-7 into a workhorse for spurring economic growth and further solidarity between the democratic and industrialized nations.

He clearly stands as an example for everyone : those who like his fiscal policy, those who liked his deregulation policy, those who like his foreign policy.
