FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
COALITION SOLDIERS QUESTION NEWS MEDIA FOLLOWING ROADSIDE BOMB
MOSUL, Iraq - Coalition soldiers questioned two news media cameramen and a reporter after a roadside bomb exploded near a Coalition convoy two kilometers north of Mosul June 3.
The media, who were at the scene prior to the attack, told soldiers at the scene they had received a tip to be at that location prior to the attack and they had witnessed the explosion.
There was minimal damage to a Coalition vehicle, a cracked windshield, and no serious injuries.
3rd Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division soldiers requested the media accompany them to a base camp in Mosul to answer questions as witnesses to the incident. The news media representatives left the base camp in the mid afternoon.

Or MBC.....and their reporter....Kevin Sites(sp).
NBC also....:-)
"Should we also prosecute for Treason those that do no secure our borders in a time of War?"
How in the heck does this tie in with the thread?
If you'd like to discuss border security or lack there of...I suggest one of the many threads on this subject.
"Would they demand that I report this, and prevent the ambush, or would they comfortable if I simply took up a hidden position and taped it?"
Nah they'd just sue you for wrongful injury! LOL!
Definitely be extra alert whenever press photographers show up on an otherwise uninteresting street corner.
"Journalistic shield laws, so beloved of commie mass-cam instructors, do not apply in a war zone."
Bttt.
Last year I posted something along the lines of this topic--a Paris Match magazine article, written by a French reporter, had an article about the anti-American insurgents, complete with glossy pictures of terrorists shooting the missile/rpg/whatever it was into that DHL package transport plane. I couldn't believe it.
ha, lotsa luck! These so called journalist more than likely were looking to find something negative to report on the 6 0'clock news.
No the pictures you identified are of an incident outside Baghdad toay, not north of Mosul yesterday. It has been evident that certain media friendly to insurgents have been tipped off in advance for about six months. Also note a number of posed pictures lately around Sadrs group.
There was a joint newsman pentagon meeting ,where the mews media asked for special protections by and from the military. I think these types of incidents will surely increase, if the media is given anything.
Yes they are good. Busy but good. The english site for Jezeera had (might still, haven't been there in awhile) about a series they did on a reporter of theirs that was roughed up when he was linked to some of the bad guys. They treat him like some kind of living martyr. And in reality this guy was no better than the bomb throwers over there.
Does anyone ever notice that Al-Jezeera ALWAYS has the scoop and "exclusives"?
They had the "exclusive" on the 509th Maintence Battalion soldiers who'd been captured.
They had the "exclusive" video of the terrorists who fired the SA-7 missile hit the DHL plane that was leaving BIAP?
Al-Jezeera had the "exclusive" video of the Army PFC that was taken hostage right after the fighting in Fallujah flared up again in April?
AND Jezeera had the "exclusive" video of Nick Berg being murdered.
I'm convinced that Al-Jezeera is following the U.S. model and "embedding" cameramen with the terrorists.
These media SOB's are colabirators and the terrorists have their own networks for propiganda in ABCNNBCBS. The terrorists are working indirectly with media who are happy to accomidate them? Time to have a few GPS guided JADAMS with the coordinates for head corporate buildings for ABCNNBCBS accidently typed in like the Chinese embassy in Serbia a few years back and blame it on a faulty map? Or maybe its time to shake up the media from the top down and arrest these people for treason?
"Surely our MI has begun shadowing al jeezera journalists."
Not that I was aware of when I was there. Hopefull it's changed. The last time anything was done to them it was the IGC kicking them out and shutting down their offices for a couple months. The U.S. is treating them like they were NBC or CNN for some strange reason.
You know, it almost sounds like these "sensationalists" placed the IED, detonated it, then took pictures and film to get a story.
Yeah! I want to see NAMES too.
If they have a camera and aren't embedded, and any bomb goes off while they are filming, shoot them on sight as they are complicit and have become legitimate targets.
In previous wars, non-uniformed agents of the enemy were shot as spies.
"Definitely be extra alert whenever press photographers show up on an otherwise uninteresting street corner."
I had some of our units in the 3rd Brigade ask me what they should do if they had a patrol that rolled up on scene and there was a TV crew already there and set up and I told them the safest thing they could do is pull back and call for re-enforcements because more than likely it was an ambush.
And then while they were waiting get the info off of the alleged "media" and bring it to me incase something DID happen or the same people kept showing up before the military did.
It's like pissing off Southern California-literally /not-sarc....
And if you find out, please ping me to let me know!
I'm convinced that Al-Jezeera is following the U.S. model and "embedding" cameramen with the terrorists.
I don't see any difference between AL-Jazeera and the terrorists. They both have the same goal in mind.
