If you say so, I guess its fact.

oops, I missed where you said "in this city"
I couldn't believe what Daley did when he destroyed Meigs Field
It is a different town since 911. It is really spooky.
I'll bet, stay safe.

Neither LoJack nor an ignition kill switch are car alarms.
To: CasearianDaoist
not in Brooklyn much, except Bay Ridge once in a while. Is it the alternate side that is getting you?
To: SoCal Pubbie
they are surely anti-theft systems.

Did he shut down the facility because he thought someone would crash into McCormick Place or something?
To: JimRed
I see in the near future the New York parking patrol (or whatever it is called) kicking cars to set off the alarm and then slapping tickets on them.

well let's see what happens - do you think Bloomberg is going to make all his Mercedes driving friends rip their systems out of their Benz? No way.

Did he shut down the facility because he thought someone would crash into McCormick Place or something? That was his excuse but most think he did it to build his wife a PARK there.

yes, I agree with you, that will happen.

Wouldn't surprise me - people are probably getting sick of them going off when a smoker who has to be outside leans up against a car. Oh heck .. why don't they just ban people from living in NY ... that would solve ALL their complaints

My nabe in Brooklyn is filled with tons of old school gin mills, that are losing money now since the ban (many have closed). Many in Manhattan don't realize that the bar culture in the outer boroughs is different from the Sex in the City/Cosmo sipping/"lounges" that dominate Manhattan.
Don't get me started on the fact that the odd rent regulations mean I pay full price for an apartment, while the section 8ers that are ruining this neighborhood only pay $150 in rent.

I have the same in my boat.

Its not like car alarms have proven effective in New York.
Oh well, its just another reason why I live in "fly over country" and not the Big Apple.

No problem, just reprogram the alarms sirens to amplify and play the muslim call to prayer, who could complain then?

You've got a point there!!!!!

that's impossible - alll indications are that the ban has helped all bars to do record breaking business and saving many lives............/sarcasm

I installed a quick release on the battery cable on my Jeep. Unless you tow it, you can't steal what won't start. How does that work? You have to unhook the cable? Or it releases when the car is tampered with?

I do not even drink, but before the ban one could go into a neighborhood bar with your dog in the evening, have a coke and hang out with the folks in the 'hood. Quite civilized. Now you cannot do that, no dogs in a bar and the smoking police will come around even at midnight. I do not hardly ever go out now. It is really a shame. In the outer boroughs pubs are ( well were) a center of neighborhood social life (and social welfare.) New York is going down the tubes. It is so painful to watch.
