Bush is bully on broadband

President Bush is taking the lead to guarantee that America keeps its edge in the information economy. On Friday, he launched initiatives to make cheap, high-speed Internet access available to all Americans by 2007. Yesterday, the president took his plan one step further by proposing a permanent ban on taxing Internet access. "If you want broadband access throughout the society, Congress must ban taxes on access," he said. We agree. The Bush administration's move to cut regulation and eliminate taxation of broadband technology is the surest way to promote innovation, which will boost the economy in the future.

Since the Dems have no policy except to oppose Bush, I suspect John Kerry will announce his own policy today:

"I plan to tax the hell out of the broadband industry. Their taxes will be goin' through the roof, Baby! I was in Vietnam!"

This will not go over well with the socialist/facist city/county governments across America who are taxing or are waiting to tax broadband like they do cable tv.

The satellite tv systems have by passed their taxes on cable tv, and these tax suckers hate satellite tv like they hate home schooling.

Bully for Mr Bush and Mr Powell!

Title is sort of misleading. Bullish might have been a better word. I agree with this policy, though. I work for a company that offers broadband and it is our hottest product. BTW, how do people manage without high-speed internet?

Dial up connection and still no cable here.....Even the small dish has trouble with connection......too many hills and trees.

You have my condolences. My advice to you is to never use a broadband connection until you can get one permanently. I could never, ever go back.

That the plan.....hope the year 1907 includes "rural" America.....Sometimes wish they'd target the country first....City folks already have other options.

Currently my provider is through the local REMC who under stands these things. They are also my long distance provider. The electric company isn't what we grew up with thank goodness!

Now to wait.
