It is only March, but the 2004 Chutzpah of the Year Award can be safely given out. It goes to Richard Clarke, now making himself famous by blaming the Bush administration for Sept. 11 -- after Clarke had spent eight years in charge of counterterrorism for a Clinton administration that did nothing.

I've often wondered if EA990 was a precursor to 9/11 and if Al Queida's "leaders" realized exploitable security holes in aviation after El-Batuti's suicide mission.

Well we all know that "Airline security" has been an oxymoron. And even today there is no security in cargo, unchecked luggage and/or airport/airline employees who pass through "security" unabated. Those cockpit doors should and could have been secured decades ago. And until now, there hadn't been an Air Marshal on board since the seventies.

Fly commercial? I don't think so...
