Bush Need Not Dig Deep to Find Ammo Against Kerry

Bush need not dig deep to find ammo against Kerry By Howie Carr Recent Columns by Howie Carr Wednesday, February 25, 2004

It's about time the White House started taking John Forbes Kerry seriously, and that was a nice line the president fired off the other night about all the issues he's on both sides of, without even mentioning Liveshot by name.

But now it's time for the Bush campaign to get down to the nitty-gritty - the opposition research.

First off, has he or has he not released his full service records, the way Bush did, and if not, why not?

Driving records - don't bother, Kerry's clean. Ditto, Teresa. I'm guessing that the cops apparently do know who he is, to answer the question he most frequently asks of the hoi-polloi.

What about Kerry's recent assertion that he's a hunter, and he's not talking about his lifelong pursuit of rich, elderly widows. He claimed the good-old-boy mantle for himself in Iowa last month, and this week, in the South, you know he'll do another photo-op in a field with a shotgun. Does he have a hunting license, or an FID?

Here's another one for the boys in the backroom to check out. Let's take a hypothetical situation - just suppose some gigolo bought a very expensive pair of boots in England - how Benedict Arnold-like - and then, when they were delivered to his mansion by the U.S. Postal Service, he refused to pay the $35 customs charge. And then, a short time later, someone at his neighborhood post office got a call from the U.S. Customs Service ordering the post office to release the boy-toy's boots, duty-free.

What the Bush campaign needs to do is tailor a mail piece for everyone in America who's registered to vote. Kerry's trying to play the class-warfare card, which is as preposterous as a lecture on chastity from Bill Clinton.

Throw it back in his face. Everyone in the country who owns a boat should get the specs on the 42-foot Scaramouche his second wife's trust fund from her first husband's grandfather paid for.

Let renters know about how he ``rented'' a condo for $200 a month, and about the lobbyist who put him up, on the arm, in an $8,000-a-month apartment.

Any would-be pilot who ever paid for a flying lesson should get a nice picture of his wife's 41-foot-long ketchup-red-and-white Gulfstream. (The New York Times mentioned that one last weekend, but it was buried, deep.)

Liveshot talks the talk, but walking the walk is out of the question. You know, it's great to point out the endless flip-flops in his Senate voting record, but you'll remember his palpable phoniness a lot longer if you personally remember something he's gotten away with that you never could.

For instance, everybody who leases a car should get a mailing about Liveshot's 16-month ``lease'' of a Buick - with no payments. Every real estate agent should get a copy of the story about how he made $21,000 on a condo flip without putting any money down. Everybody with a home equity loan ought to find in his mailbox, or his e-mail, a copy of the story from the Washington Post about his $6.5-million ``mortgage'' on the Beacon Hill mansion, which there is no way in hell he could repay on his Senate salary.

Harley owners need to know that when he's not running for president, Kerry's a Ducati man.

Everybody who throws a finn in the collection plate every Sunday should know how much John Kerry [related, bio] gave to charity in 1991 on a salary of $113,857 - zero. And how much he chipped in in 1995 on an income of $126,179 - again, zero.

Voters need to understand that when Kerry says ``Bring It On!'' he's talking about free cars, free apartments and ever-richer, ever-wrinklier heiresses. And Bush has more than enough money to tell them, several times over.

( Howie Carr's radio show can be heard every weekday afternoon on WRKO AM 680, WHYN AM 560, WGAN AM 560, WEIM AM 1280, and WXTK 95.1 FM. )

I had to pay $25 to DHL to cover the shipping fee for my watch from England. If only I could have gotten it duty-free like John F. Kerry. The point of the article is the guy gets breaks and special treatment not available to average folks.

Explanation of the term "liveshot".

Early in his first term, political wags in Massachusetts began referring
to the freshman lawmaker as "Live Shot" because of his frequent
interviews via satellite with Boston television stations. The criticism
stung and Kerry, yearning to be taken seriously by his more senior
colleagues.

What's interesting is he gave ZERO to charity two years in a row. Liberals talk about helping the less fortunate but seem reluctant to back up their fine words with their money. And Kerry can afford it. So the next time he says the government isn't showing enough compassion to the needy, President Bush should offer this rejoinder, "Senator, you say we have to take care of the least fortunate among us and with that mind, I'd like you to tell the American people how much you've contributed to charity?" That'll leave that phonier than a two dollar bill con artist slowly twisting in the wind.

I'm glad you explained the term. I thought it referred to his valour in Vietnam.[/sarcasm]

The guy is a publicity hound. He needs to be in the public eye as much as Clinton.

And now much will Kerry steal should he get there? No one has bothered to ask the question yet.

With Teresa's money, who thinks that either of them actually drives anywhere? They probably have chauffeur driving them where and when they want.

Howie Carr is going to be a treasure trove of opposition research for the Bush-Cheney campaign.

He knows the polticial scene in Boston better than just about any other writer and between his radio show and his column, he gets tips on most every politican.

And he does not like Kerry.

They're probably living like most six figure income folks do. That puts them in the fortunate 1 percent of Americans who have achieved the ultimate embodiment of the American Dream.

I, for one, would like to see those military records released. According to his commanders, Kerry had a little problem when it came to killing civilians. Wonder how Move-On pastes over that one?

I admire the man so much I wrote him a song.

The Little Old Commie from Massachusetts.

Sung to Jan and Dean’s Little Old Lady from Pasadena

It’s the Little Old Commie from Massachusetts.

The Little Old Commie form Massachusetts.
Go Kerry, Go Kerry, Go Kerry Go
He’s not worried bout his record cause he has two sets.
Go Kerry, Go Kerry, Go Kerry Go
He as slip’ry as grease up in DC town,
He will vote the bill up and then he’ll vote it back down.

Chorus:

And everybody’s saying that he offers the most threats.
That’s the Little Old Commie from Massachusetts.
He takes both sides, yes he takes both sides.
He’s the biggest dang liar up in DC Town.
He’s the Little Old Commie from Massachusetts.

It’s the Little Old Commie from Massachusetts.
If you hear him speakin out don’t pay attention.
Go Kerry, Go Kerry, Go Kerry Go
In a minute or so he’ll just change direction.
Go Kerry, Go Kerry, Go Kerry Go
The man aint trusted in either House.
Cause he always talks out both sides of his mouth.

Chorus:

And everybody’s saying that he offers the most threats.
That’s the Little Old Commie from Massachusetts.
He takes both sides, yes he takes both sides.
He’s the biggest dang liar up in DC Town.
He’s the Little Old Commie from Massachusetts.

Musical Interlude:

Go Kerry, Go Kerry, Go Kerry Go
Go Kerry, Go Kerry, Go Kerry Go
We need to send him home to his heiress wife.
Cause he’s got no business in public life.

Chorus:

And everybody’s saying that he offers the most threats.
That’s the Little Old Commie from Massachusetts.
He takes both sides, yes he takes both sides.
He’s the biggest dang liar up in DC Town.
He’s the Little Old Commie from Massachusetts.

Go Kerry, Go Kerry, Go Kerry Go
Go Kerry, Go Kerry, Go Kerry Go
Go Kerry, Go Kerry, Go Kerry Go
Go Kerry, Go Kerry, Go Kerry Go
Go Kerry, Go Kerry, Go Kerry Go
Go Kerry, Go Kerry, Go Kerry Go

Fade

This is what really ticks me off. Looks like I give more to charities than what John F'ing Kerry gives. Problem is, I don't make half the income he makes. What an idiotic, moronic, cheapskate.

Here's another thing to check for: Here in Taxachusetts, we have a 5.35% income tax rate. On the state tax forms, there is an option to pay a "higher" tax rate of 5.85% with the extra money being used to "help the unfortunate." This "optional" higher tax rate was inserted into our state tax forms as a result of the tax increase being rejected at the polls. Supposedly, we are supposed to feel guilty for not checking off the box to be assessed at the higher tax rate.

Howie Carr had a column a few years back on how few people in the "People's Republic" of Massachusetts checked this box off. Something like less that a tenth of 1% of the voters. It seems that liberals love raising taxes for everybody else but don't particularly like raising taxes on themselves.

Anyway, it would be interesting to see if John Kerry/Teresa Heinz checked off the box for the higher tax rate. My bet is that the answer is a resounding NO.
