LONDON -- A European could step onto the surface of Mars within three decades, under European Space Agency (ESA) plans spelled out on Tuesday.

The plans are more precise than the broad U.S. goals of sending a man back to the moon by 2020 and to Mars by 2030, revealed last month by President Bush.

France has to get that aircraft carrier working before they can go to Mars.

Oh, really? 3 decades, eh?

C'mon, someone, anyone, quote me some odds on this puppy!

In 30 years, the EC **MIGHT** be able to agree on the design of the spacecraft. Maybe.

Then, there's the question of where the money will come from. In 30 years, these clowns will have THE most bankrupt set of welfare/pension schemes in history, making the Ponzi scheme of ''Social Security'' look like sound finance.

They better start doing better than last year's crash-and-burn attempt. Face it, EU, you just ain't got what we got, and that's why you hate us so badly.

There. Much better. That is probably the dumbest thing I've heard in years. The EUniks can't even field a half-way decent military; they're going to put a man on mars in three decades. No way.

The Euros won't commit a dime to such efforts, they'll just ask for a ride to our moonbase after we build it with our money. They'll probably build the chairs at our moonbase, but that's about it, they wouldn't want to divert anything from their precious social programs.

Let's see how this compares to the latest long term plans from Iran:

TEHRAN -- A Iranian woman could step outside her home with her ears uncovered in three decades, under the Islamic government's plans spelled out on Tuesday. The plans are more precise than Saudi Arabian goals of sending a woman out with her forehead showing by 2020.

"We think it is technically feasible to have a woman's forehead shown by 2020 to 2035 and then the ears by 2030 to 2035," said Mohammed Mohammed, project manager of the Iranian Republican Guard's fledgling Islamic exploration program.

"We need the forehead first before we can go all the way to the ears," he told an audience of astonished mullahs and theologians.

""We think it is technically feasible to have a manned mission to the moon between 2020 and 2025 and then to Mars between 2030 and 2035," said Franco Ongaro, project manager of the ESA's fledgling Aurora space exploration program."

Fine. Let them pay for it.
