An 11-year-old girl was apparently abducted while walking home from a friend's house, with the kidnapping caught by a surveillance camera, police said Monday.

The camera behind a car wash caught sixth-grader Carlie Brucia being led away Sunday evening by a white male in his late 20s or early 30s, the Sarasota County Sheriff's office said.

Sadly, this image is of such poor quality that I don't
see how it could be useful.

at what hour? I don't see a time anywhere in the article. Also- is there something especially dangerous about car washes? Let's blame the creep that abducted her, and not jump down the parent's throat!

Theoriginal picture is probably better and they use enhancing software.

I see tatoos on both armes and a guy in a rental uniform working for a car dealership or repair shop, something like that. He's about 30 years old. In ten munites I'd have the name of every rental cutomer in hand.

Is that a little card or emblem above his right front pocket? If it is, it looks like a uniform of some kind, in which case would make him easy to identify.

Actually the image is fairly good, and he appears to be wearing a uniform of some kind? The guy will have his balls in a vise before the day is out, hopefully.

Enhancement of the video may be able to get the nametag of this rotten creep. Pray for the safety of this child and her safe return to her family.

Dark overalls with a name card or company logo above the right breast pocket. Hopefully there are digital enhancement programs that may be capable of bringing that and the guy's face into better focus, but in the meantime all the rest of us can do is pray really hard.

To be honest, and sincerely trying not to sound "racist", but the first thing I thought of from this screen capture shot is "latino". I know that in reports like this it's usually either "white" or "black", but anything that can narrow the search down should be used.

They will probably find the perp with that picture. I just hope they can find him in time. There was already a day or two delay, and that kind of kidnapping is extremely dangerous.

According to the interview I saw on television, she had been at a friends house and started home at about 6:20pm. A friend of the family saw her walking and called her mom, who then sent her husband to meet her. In about a 2 minute span, this man approached and abducted her.

I don't really see a lack of parental responsibility here. Just a kid walking home.

Sadly, this image is of such poor quality that I don't see how it could be useful.

By isolating the pocket patch, face and tattoos, frame by frame and superimposing them layer by layer, you would be suprised at the amount of detail imaging software can reveal.

With any luck, this pedoperv will soon be spending some quality time being abducted in the shower room at the fed pen.

Tape Abduction
Video Reveals Mystery Man Leading Away Missing Girl

S A R A S O T A, Fla., Feb. 3 — A surveillance camera behind a car wash caught the apparent abduction of an 11-year-old girl as she was walking home from her friend's house.

The grainy video shows Carlie Brucia being led away by a white male in his late 20s or early 30s at about 6:20 p.m. Sunday, according to the Sarasota County Sheriff's office.

Brucia's parents, Susan Schorpen and Joseph Brucia, said they could tell from the look on their daughter's face in the video that she did not know the man who grabbed her hand the night she went missing.

"Take a good look at my daughter. Look at her face," Brucia said as she watched a replay of the tape on ABCNEWS' Good Morning America. "If she knew him and wanted to be with him, there would be a big smile on that face," she said.

Police said the video reveals the man walking up to Brucia, talking to her for a few seconds, then grabbing her forearm and leading her away. Police don't know what happened once the two walked out of the range of the surveillance camera.

‘You Can End It’

The girl's father, Joseph Brucia, made a public plea to the man on the tape.

"You have the power to change all of this. You can end it. Please, give us our daughter back," he said.

Sgt. Paul Richard of the Sarasota County Sheriff's Department said the car wash was closed when the camera recorded Brucia walking past the business, using it as a shortcut on the way home.

After watching the video, Richard said Brucia didn't seem to know the man, who was wearing what appeared to be a mechanic's shirt with a name patch on one breast. Brucia's mother told police she did not recognize the man on the tape.

Walking Home Alone

Police say Brucia went missing within a short period of time, after the mother of one of Brucia's friends called the girl's stepfather, Steven Kansler. Police said the woman called Kansler at 6 p.m., to tell him that she had spotted the girl walking home alone.

then grabbing her forearm and leading her away

Leading her away???

Although we live in the country, my daughters have been instructed to run and scream (best case scenario) or plant their backsides on the ground and scream - 'This is not my daddy!' at the top of their lungs...biting, kicking, scratching, eye-gouging and crotch pounding have also been encouraged.

The absolute LAST thing an abductor wants is attention drawn to him in a public place, and dragging a young girl around on the ground is a sure attention-getter.

According to the article, a few minutes delay would have allowed her father time to arrive.

I only pray she's O.K.!

What hour was that, specifically? I worked in full-service car washes during college, and I never found it particularly dangerous.
