UNDERSTANDING CLARK

Making Sense Of Clark's Conspiracy Theories Is No Easy Feat and TAKE TWO: Clark's Continuing Conspiracy Theories

__________________________________________________________

CLARK CONSPIRACY NO. 18

MR. CLARK: “[I]t came from the White House, it came from people around the White House. … I got a call on 9/11. I was on CNN, and I got a call at my home saying, ‘You got to say this is connected … to Saddam Hussein.’” (NBC’s “Meet The Press,” 6/15/03)

QUESTION: Who is “around” the White House?

CLARK CONSPIRACY NO. 17

MR. CLARK: “I never got any of these calls from the White House. I got a call from Canada, from a man who was running a Middle East think tank …” (WDUN’s “The Martha Zoller Show,” 7/1/03)

QUESTION: Is Canada “around the White House”?

CLARK CONSPIRACY NO. 16

MR. CLARK: “A man from a – of a Middle East think tank in Canada, the man who’s the brother of a very close friend of mine in Belgium. He’s very well connected to Israeli intelligence.” (MSNBC’s “Buchanan And Press,” 8/25/03)

QUESTION: Is your very close friend’s brother a source for any of your other theories?

CLARK CONSPIRACY NO. 15

MR. CLARK: “The White House, actually back in February, apparently tried to get me knocked off CNN.” (Newsradio 620 KTAR, 8/25/03 As Reported On Fox News’ “Special Report,” 8/26/03)

QUESTION: Aren’t you confusing the Bush White House with the Clinton White House, which actually did relieve you from duty?

CLARK CONSPIRACY NO. 14

MR. CLARK: “[Being relieved from NATO Command] was, Clark says, a setup, engineered by [Defense Secretary] Cohen’s office and by the Chiefs. As for Clinton, ‘He was hornswoggled.’” (Peter J. Boyer, “General Clark’s Battles,” The New Yorker, 11/17/03)

QUESTION: Are you suggesting Bill Clinton, the Commander in Chief of the United States, was tricked into firing you?

CLARK CONSPIRACY NO. 13

MR. CLARK: “First of all, I wasn’t relieved [from NATO Command].” (MSNBC’s “Hardball,” 12/8/03))

QUESTION: Because it was a trick?

CLARK CONSPIRACY NO. 12

MR. CLARK: “[H]e says, this is Bradley Graham from The Washington Post, and we have an official authorized Pentagon news leak that you’ll be replaced” (MSNBC’s “Hardball,” 12/8/03)

QUESTION: What exactly is an “official authorized news leak”?

CLARK CONSPIRACY NO. 11

MR. CLARK: “The Secretary of Defense had to leak his own memo to explain that we have no strategy to deal with terrorism …” (Wesley Clark, Remarks To Center For American Progress, 10/28/03)

QUESTION: Was it common practice when you were NATO Commander to leak memos to explain strategy?

CLARK CONSPIRACY NO. 10

MR. CLARK: “Well, that’s [Rumsfeld leaking his memo] what the rumor is, and it’s been talked about on the Sunday talk shows.” (Wesley Clark, Remarks To Center For American Progress, 10/28/03)

QUESTION: Is your favorite album “Rumors” by Fleetwood Mac?

CLARK CONSPIRACY NO. 9

MR. CLARK: “I went back through the Pentagon in November 2001 … [Iraq] was being discussed as part of a five-year campaign plan … and there were a total of seven countries [to be invaded] …” (Wesley Clark, “The Clark Critique,” Newsweek, 9/29/03)

QUESTION: Is invading seven countries more macho than just picking one at random?

CLARK CONSPIRACY NO. 8

MR. CLARK: “[T]hey told me there was something, some kind of a memo or something. I never saw it.” (As Quoted In Paul Barton, “Clark Again Tells Of Post-9/11 Hit List,” Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, 11/4/03)

QUESTION: ¯¯ Look at all these rumors surrounding me everyday… ¯¯ (From “Rumors,” By Timex Social Club)

CLARK CONSPIRACY NO. 7

MR. CLARK: “You only have to listen to the gossip around Washington and to hear what the neoconservatives are saying and you will get the flavor of this.” (As Quoted In Paul Barton, “Clark Again Tells Of Post-9/11 Hit List,” Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, 11/4/03)

QUESTION: Gossip, rumors and secret plans? Oh my! Gossip, rumors and secret plans? Oh my!

CLARK CONSPIRACY NO. 6

MR. CLARK: "I think Dick Cheney put his thumb on the scale and got Don Rumsfeld in as secretary of defense. And then I think that together they took the opportunity of 9/11 to persuade the president [to go into Iraq]." (MSNBC's "Hardball," 1/5/04)

QUESTION: Dick Cheney and Don Rumsfeld planned from the get-go to invade Iraq, waiting until some horrible tragedy befell the country to spring the notion on an unsuspecting President and country?

CLARK CONSPIRACY NO. 5

MR. CLARK: "I think [the war in Iraq] was purely political. I think it started with a Republican Party pledge, an effort to embarrass the Clinton administration. It swelled and just grew out of control."

(MSNBC's "Hardball," 1/5/04)

QUESTION: Are you really claiming the Republican Party took the country to war to embarrass Bill Clinton?

CLARK CONSPIRACY NO. 4

MR. CLARK: "[T]here were some people who hyped the intelligence." (MSNBC's "Hardball," 1/5/04)

QUESTION: So who are these people? And, having told the House Armed Services Committee, "there's no question that Saddam Hussein is a threat," are you one of them? (Wesley Clark, Committee On Armed Services, U.S. House Of Representatives, Testimony, 9/26/02)

CLARK CONSPIRACY NO. 3

MR. CLARK: "There were some people who said, no, what we need to do is just find ... a country and beat up on them so that other people in the Arab world will know we're big and tough and strong." (MSNBC's "Hardball," 1/5/04)

QUESTION: Are you claiming the President and his advisors, in implementing the longstanding policy of regime change in Iraq, were really just randomly using force against a country as a gesture of machismo?

CLARK CONSPIRACY NO. 2

MR. CLARK: "There were some people who said ... this is a way to sort of ... help Israel." (MSNBC's "Hardball," 1/5/04)

QUESTION: Do you believe the war in Iraq is Israeli-driven?

CLARK CONSPIRACY NO. 2

MR. CLARK: "Ultimately, all of this was passed through a political filter. Karl Rove, he passed judgment on it." (MSNBC's "Hardball," 1/5/04)

QUESTION: Are you really suggesting that Senior Advisor Karl Rove, not the CIA, Defense Department, State Department or National Security Advisor, is responsible for advising the President on national security decisions?

I want Dean to win the primary...he's the easiest to beat. Clark can tell too many lies in the South that people may believe. Dean's gay civil unions and fake Jesus talk won't work in the South. Clark can be stopped but I heard today that Colin Powell once praised Clark. I haven't verified that but that sure doesn't help matters. This country needs to mobilize and re-elect President Bush. Period.

He is insane and that's why I want him taken down.

Undoubtedly! I really think there is something wrong with him psychologically. Dean just shoots off at the mouth and will say anything for votes. Clark has something going on in his head that is worthy of an evaluation.

and is loving the adulation he is getting.

No doubt, it's feeding his ego like nothing he's ever done before ... he's still going to come up with big 'gaffes' though, he just doesn't have the smooth, polished and unflappable demeanor that Bill Xlintoon developed in all those he was lying and covering up scandal after scandal - in Arkansas! He's also devoid on any basis, IMO, of voicing knowledgeable opinions on-the-fly on amyriad of issues like 'ol Beelzebub could ...

His lies are already catching up with him -- that was a real Whopper. There is not way this Country will ever elect a man from Little Rock AR who lies like this.

The vast majority of Americans will be immediately reminded of Bill Clinton and do not want another President like that especially at this period of time in our Nation's history.

C'MON! We have got to get out of this, "We're the stupid party", mode.

Couldn't agree with you more! I don't understand it myself. When you have a candidate like Clark making these conspiracy statements in such a short period of time, you have a candidate from Little Rock AR going nowhere fast. He will NEVER be President.

So glad this unstable goon left the Republican Party. Better yet he joined the Dims, and he might even get the nomination! The notion of the 'Rats getting stuck with a Ross Perot grade crazy in November makes me smile. (But the possibility of the unforseen, and of Gen Weasley "Ripper" Clark actually running the country, gives me the chills.)

I'm sorry, I'm not saying this (presidency) is a done deal. All I'm trying to imply is that this is not Bush '92.

I think he has one of those cootie catchers with various portions of conspiracy theories on each flap and he randomly generates these.

OMG, these people are ludicrous. Clark, Dean, Kerry, or Gephardt...damn, I don't know who I want to be the Dem candidate, they are all nutjobs! Are the Clinton's so consumed by legacy-building that they'll throw any jack-ass out there to see if it sticks?

Don't forget Kucinich, the alien!

That reminds me, wasn't Clark going on about time travel?

You probably already know this, but for anybody that doesn't... Clark's press aide "Mary"...a little info.

http://www.prospect.org/webfeatures/2003/09/franke-ruta-g-09-25.html

Clark's new Arkansas press aide Jacoby quit her post as a reporter for the St. Petersburg Times to work for Clark; Jacoby's father, Jon Jacoby, is a good friend of Clark's, according to Spell, and knows him from Little Rock, where he is a director and executive of the Clinton-allied Stephens Group, Inc. and a senior executive at Stephens, Inc., the investment firm where Clark worked after returning to civilian life. Mary Jacoby has never worked on a political campaign before -- though she did once work as a file clerk at Hillary Clinton's Rose Law Firm, subject of the Whitewater investigation, according to 1996 reports -- and has extensive experience as a political reporter.

Clark is also the classic 'empty suit' (no substance, no real, core idealogy occupying his grey matter) manager as well 26 posted on 01/09/2004 6:32:26 PM PST by _Jim ( <--- Ann Coulter speaks on gutless Liberals (RealAudio fil

Wasn't there something odd about the way that Clark got his commission as a General? Something involving Clinton years before Clinton was President?

Wouldn't you think a man with Clark's self described abilities would be more concerned with what bin Laden and Saddam might have conspired to do rather than Cheney and Rumsfeld? I honestly think the man is ill, he has no grip on the reality of his importance or potency.

MR. CLARK: "I think [the war in Iraq] was purely political."

Then WHAT--pray tell--was the Kosovo Slaughter?! The Serbs had never subsidized terrorism or developed WMDs or plotted to assassinate the President of the United States...yet Clinton slaughtered over 7,500 innocent Kosovar Serbs and ethnic Albanians for WHAT?! The War in Kosovo, Mr. Clark, was purely political, 'cuz Bill Clinton (Clark's sugar-daddy) needed to divert attention from his inexcusable crimes as POTUS and Slobo Milosevic was the convenient whuppin' boy!!

Good stuff, PKM...MUD

Clark may just be more interesting than Dean for entertainment. They are all disasters, but Clark may be mysterious enough to put on life support! There is a quote I learned by heart a long time ago:

"Experts eliminate the simpler mistakes in favor of the more complex ones, thereby achieving a higher degree of stupidity!"

We will have fun!

No, you are not alone. If you haven't noticed, Bush is putting the stamp of history on those 8 years. Sort of correcting the mistakes. And it costs a LOT of money.
