==================================================

Dear Doug from Upland:

My dad owns guns and has taught me never to play with them. When the time is right, he is going to take me to the shooting range and train me to use them safely. We have an NRA sticker prominently displayed on a front window.

A friend of mine has parents who hate guns. They don't want anyone to have guns. I asked her why her parents don't put a sticker on their window or sign in front of their house that says something like "This family does not believe in guns." Her dad says he won't do that. If they are against guns, why won't he do that?

Brandi, age 9
Austin, TX

=====================================

Dear Brandi:

It is good to hear that your dad is a responsible gun owner. Your question is excellent and is something the political left and gun grabbers don't want to face. If a bad guy wants to break into your home, he will see the NRA sticker and know he had better not mess with your dad (and perhaps your mom). The bad guys, as you undoubtedly know, are looking for an easy target. They do not want to break in and face the wrong end of the barrel of a gun.

If your friend had a sign that said her family does not believe in guns, it would warm the heart of the bad guy. He would know that breaking into their house would not pose a great danger to him. Even if they had a knife, the bad guy knows well that you don't bring a knife to a gun fight.

he will see the NRA sticker...

Halloween night, I was posted near the front door. I heard a bunch of little gobblins coming up the porch.
One voice rang out, "NRA! I bet they have a shotgun. RUN!"

Too bad.
I was giving out full size candy bars and pocket change.

Or else he will think, "There are valuable guns here. I will wait until the homeowners leave, then break in and steal their guns."

Good screen name. It gives me the opportunity to bring back one of my favorites from the archives.

In school, Hillary was called SISTER FRIGIDAIRE

SISTER GOLDENHAIR

She had grown up near Chicago…and her grades had been very good
And because her dad was pushing her, she had done the best she could
Other children did not like her…they would point at her and stare
They referred to her as Sister Frigidaire

She had always seemed quite heartless…she’s been like that all of her life
All the counselors had predicted that she would make an awful wife
Other children did not like her…they would point at her and stare
They referred to her as Sister Frigidaire

Sister Frigidaire was angry…Sister Frigidaire’s really mean
And she was warning her tormentors that someday she’d be their queen
You will all be dying…when I get power…no, I’m not lying

Then at Yale she met a scumbag…it’s someone I think you all know
He had promised he’d be taking her to the place she wants to go
Other students did not like her…they would point at her and stare
They referred to her as Sister Frigidaire

Sister Frigidaire was angry…Sister Frigidaire’s really mean
And she was warning her tormentors that someday she’d be their queen
You will all be dying…when I get power…no, I’m not lying

Ah, glad you didn't just flame me in response!

That actually is the reason why I probably wouldn't put an NRA sticker on my own house. At least, not unless I had a darn good gun safe...
