[Top 100] US Advertisers Urged to Preview Ronald Reagan Movie Before Sponsoring

The head of a Washington, DC based media watchdog group is asking that advertisers demand to preview a planned CBS mini series on former President Ronald Reagan before sponsoring the program.

Media Reasearch Center President L. Brent Bozell Tuesday sent a letter to each of the nations top 100 advertisers urging them to preview the movie before making a sponsorship decision because it is what Bozell called 'a partisan attack against one of Americas most beloved Presidents.'

A review of the script by New York Times writer Jim Reutenberg noted the two part mini series, scheduled for later this month, makes no mention of the significant economic expansion that took place during Reagan's Presidency, and Bozell called the program 'a blatantly unfair assault' on the Reagan legacy.

CBS Network Presdient Les Moonves was quoted in the October 28th New York Post as calling the criticism of the program 'odd' because no one has seen it yet, and Moonves said the program is still being edited.'

I want Babs and Brolin to have to eat it.

I think they have been "eating it" since 1992.

Target doesn't allow ANY kind of initiative on its property. They are there strictly to sell merchandise: Expect More. Pay Less.

They have no interest in politicizing ANYTHING. They do, however, bend over backwards when it comes to family matters - in a big way. They encourage wives/husband/children lunch visits. They force their employees to use their manners. They enforce NO cursing, NO indecency, NO un-professional behavior. Vigorously.

I know this - I know Target political structure. They suffer NO politics under their roof which might interfere with sales - as they do attempt to make a profit.

I'll give you they are full of it, but I want them to eat the cost of this production.

If this gets aired, I want see "Clinton" done from our perspective to air immediately following the DNC convention. I would love to cast it, and I'll bet we could get the NRA to sponsor.

I was wondering if someone could get a list of sponsors already signed on for this show. If so, probably at least a temporary boycott should be done.

Recommending the Top 100 advertisers review the mini-drive by series of Reagan just might put it in a black hole which is where it belongs. Big advertisers definitely shy away from controversial shows.

I will never buy another product of a company that would willingly sponsor such trash.

Please see 'KEYWORDS' right under the text of the post for the potential sponsors. They will be dropping like flies soon, so don't pass judgment until you see the actual ads that accompany the travesty.

Thank you.

Great. Is there a good generic letter that is being passed around yet?

Les, do the words "Unfair and Slanted" mean anything to you?

There are a couple boycott sites. Search 'CBS' 'REAGANS' 'BOYCOTT' etc.

We want to wait to eviscerate sponsors until we view their ads at broadcast, remembering that they need some time to realize what their flat-liner media buyers just got them into.. and cancel their ads.
