Colorado Rep. Diana DeGette, the lead Democratic sponsor of a federal bill to ban high-capacity magazines, is apparently unaware that such magazines can be reloaded and reused, according to a comment she made at a Denver Post-sponsored forum on gun control on Tuesday. When asked how limiting the number of bullets in magazines would help reduce violence, she replied: “I will tell you these are ammunition, they’re bullets, so the people who have those now, they’re going to shoot them. So if you ban them in the future, the number of these high-capacity magazines is going to decrease dramatically over...

NASHUA, NH (CBS) – A Nashua Chick-Fil-A restaurant will be sponsoring New Hampshire Pride Fest. Ryan Manseau, the senior director of Pride Fest, told WBZ-TV he was handing out fliers at the Pheasant Lane Mall recently to promote his event and noticed a man who appeared to be a Chick-Fil-A manager holding one. . . Manseau said he approached the man, bracing for a verbal confrontation. He turned out to be the franchise operator, Anthony Piccola, who agreed to help sponsor the event and to serve Chick-Fil-A sandwiches there.

Terms of the five-year deal, announced in Shanghai on Thursday, were not disclosed. GM is hoping to piggyback on Manchester United's fan base of an estimated 659 million people to boost its Chevy brand, especially in such growing Asian car markets as China, where the soccer club has 108 million fans. "If our aspirations are to build global icon status for Chevrolet ... soccer far and away is the world's biggest sport," Paul Edwards, GM executive director of global marketing strategy, said in an interview. As readers know, I have no pecuniary interest in the Rush Limbaugh show, which I seldom have the chance to listen to, although I do read his transcripts from time to time. About 20 million Americans do listen at least once a month and good for him. He earned it. This slut controversy is costing him some big bucks in the short term, but in the long term he will prevail. My prediction: On January 21, 2013, Barack Obama will be out of the White House and Rush Limbaugh will be on the radio.

Vitacost dropped Rush Limbaugh as a sponsor yesterday. Seems that the company is already trying to backpedal after receiving tons of negative feedback. Yesterday's message: We’d like to address an issue with our radio ads -- one of which aired on the Rush Limbaugh radio show. To put it frankly, Mr. Limbaugh's recent comments have been unsettling, and many of our fans have voiced concern that Vitacost endorses these views. These comments are definitely not in line with our brand values, and in listening to our fans we've decided to remove our advertising from the program. And today's soft reinterpretation:...

WASHINGTON (AP)—The House has voted to let the Pentagon continue using taxpayer dollars to sponsor NASCAR race teams. By a 281-148 vote, lawmakers rejected an effort by Minnesota Democratic Rep. Betty McCollum that would have ended the practice. McCollum aides said the Army is spending $7 million on a sponsorship this year, and the Air Force and National Guard are spending additional money. McCollum said the military spends the funds to place decals on race cars and for a few driver appearances. The armed forces hope the sponsorships will help them attract recruits.

A report in the Sports Business Journal said that FedEx informed ESPN it is bowing out of its sponsorship because the company didn't want a larger season-long sponsorship platform in college football, which is being asked of all BCS sponsors. ESPN, which will begin broadcasting all of the BCS games in 2011, is currently working with Orange Bowl officials on a new sponsor. Al-Qaeda remains the biggest danger to the US and the West, the annual report states, noting that terror attacks are rising in Pakistan. Iran rejected the report, saying the US was guilty of double standards. Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said the US had no right to accuse others after in light of its actions at Abu Ghraib...

Why are the polls down? Is public support for the war crumbling? Well, no. But the explanation for plummeting numbers varies depending on which war you are talking about. If you mean what started out as the "war on terror," support remains high. You may recall that war. It was about the eradication of militant Islam and its state sponsors. To the extent there is public uneasiness, it is not over the fact of that war but rather the manner in which it is being prosecuted, with terrorists continuing to score successes and their facilitators in Iran and Syria making...

What do Iran, Syria, Sudan, Libya, and Cuba have in common? Each country is on the United Nation's Oil-For-Food Humanitarian Goods vendor list, and the U.S. List of State Sponsors of Terrorism. The number of oil contracts awarded to countries under Oil-for-Food, totaling U.S. $64.2 billion, already told an alarming tale. Iraq’s Historical Predecessor tdcanalyst@optonline.net By: 17-year old Ryan Mauro The best way to predict the future is to look in the past. This cliché remains ever so true in the war in Iraq, which can be compared with its historical predecessor, The Spanish-American War. At face value, these two wars seem to be completely different. Set in two different times, few would think that the lesson of history repeating itself can be seen here. However, those that ignore the strange connections between the two wars are missing out on understanding the potential outcome of the Iraq War. First, the most...

Even More Evidence Against Iraq and Iran Compiled By: Ryan Mauro tdcanalyst@optonline.net This article aims to show that American allegations against Saddam’s former regime in Iraq and the current regime in Iran are accurate, and that it is likely the threat is/was much greater than commonly thought. This is not a call to war, but to international pressure. Recent articles in the press from Iraqi detainees indicate that Saddam Hussein felt he could survive the war because of the actions of the UN, Russia, France, and others, hoping that would end the war early or stop it altogether. With major battles occurring in Afghanistan and a new Al-Qaeda effort in Iraq, one has to wonder how the operations are led, by whom, and from where. Most of all, is why. We know that most of the Taliban and Al-Qaeda leadership is hiding in eastern Afghanistan, sometimes crossing into western Pakistan—known as “friendly territory” by the terrorists. While focus remains on this border, few often question how come they are often able to pass through Iran’s section of Baluchistan. The new attacks by Al-Qaeda and their allies are the...

While the world remains fixated on the situation in Iraq, the Bush Administration seems equally fixated on Iran. As the world’s most intense (in quantity and quality) sponsor of international terrorism, and a rogue state in search of weapons of mass destruction including nuclear weapons, the specter of an alliance between the terrorist organization, Al-Qaeda (and its associated branches) of Osama Bin Laden and the fundamentalist state of Iran is indeed a scary one.
