Why are you assuming all the political hacks in Des Moines are supporting Ganske--they're not.

There are people saying things on this thread they know nothing about.

Who else are the RINOs going to vote for? The call themselves Republicans because they do not want to be Democrats for some reason or another. The RINOs will vote for the Republican nominee, whoever he is. We could put Attila the Hun up there and the RINOs would still vote for him. No principles. Conservatives are not as forgiving of past transgressions. We have the Deformed Party and the Constitution Party here in Iowa. We go with one of those or simply sit an election out.

This is where you and I part company. Your way would be easy for me, too and I've done it in the past. It will get us no where. It will take us backward, not forward.

I personally can't stand Ganske but I have to tell myself that if he wins the primary, I have to go in the voting booth, hold my nose and vote for him.

To do anything else, elects Harkin.

The Reformed party and the Constitution party is not as lily white as the driven snow, either.

We MUST fight our battles in the primary.

I'm not assuming anything...I'm simply generalizing.

I'm well aware that Bill Salier has great support both in Des Moines and amongst the leadership of the Iowa GOP.

That's one of Bill's strongest suits, in my book. He has shown a remarkable ability to bridge old divisions in the Republican Party of Iowa. That's one of the things that makes him eminently electable.

My scorn is saved for those who are supporting Ganske because 'he has money', or 'he has held office', or 'he has paid his dues', or some such nonsense.

Highest regards...EV

That should be interesting. Sukup claims that Vilsack is responsible for the budget problems, but the Republicans have had control of both houses. Go figure.

You're right about this BUT we don't need to broadcast it. Most of the blame can be put on Vilsack and I want to keep it that way.

I agree with you...the RP and the CP have nothing upon which to build any challenge to Harkin...they are simply not in any way viable at this point in history.

But I think it is becoming less and less likely every day that Ganske will win the primary anyway...and therefore for Republicans to face a situation where there is no excitement and energy within the base for the critical task of defeating Commie Tommy.

Yea, many have thought Ganske was going to walk away with this thing. That's why they supported him.

Bill is slowly peeling away some of that support. As his campaign picks up momentum, his support will continue to grow. We must be patient. So far, so good.

The Deformed Party is made up of a bunch of nutjobs. The Constitution Party seems pretty good the overwhelming majority of the time. Unfortunately, they do not have the resources or the organization to be a force in state or national politics.

If Ganske wins, at least you know that, with the Constitution Party, there is at least one candidate who has actually read the Constitution.

If we as conservatives do not broadcast it, no one will hold our elected officials accountable. James Cutler, Rep. Garman and myself got a plank in the Story County republican platform yanked that dealt with this issue. Blaming Vilsack is simply giving him the rope to hang us with.

Is that a fact? When is the primary anyway?

The Salier surge thing, suggesting it will carry him to victory in the primary. Not that I am following the state or anything, but I find that absolutely wild. We shall see.

You can consider it a joke if you choose, but we will see who gets the last laugh.

Bill Salier has worked all 99 Iowa counties faithfully for the last 3 years, while Greg Ganske has been thumbing his nose at the Republican platform and the Republican Caucus in the House during that entire time.

Iowa's midterm primary voters aren't stupid. They know how much of a RINO Ganske is...and to think that they would reward someone who is so faithless to their principles and political goals with a U.S. Senate nomination is the real joke.

What does it matter to you anyhow? From what you have told me about your positions previously on the issues of our day, you would vote for Harkin before either Salier or Ganske anyway.

Actually, Harkin is one of my ten least favorite senators, and we disagree on a lot. You are SO uni-dimensional. LOL. I will visit with you after the primary. Cheers.

By the way, how many of the 99 Iowa counties can you name, and which one is the most Dem, and which the most GOP? And why is the one that is the most GOP, have that partisan preference? No surfing now for the answer!

I don't know counties there, but I'll take a guess.

Most GOP - No idea. One of the West rural counties.

Most Dem - Davenport.

No, he is not. He doesn't irritate me. The list is somewhat non-partisan. Harkin, Inhofe, Biden, Jeffords, Byrd, Hollings, Torrecelli, Murray, Wellstone, Smith (Bob), and Leahy. I'd put Daschle on it, except that he has a job to do, so that isn't entirely fair.
