COLUMBUS Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump is pulling away from Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton in Ohio, according to a new Quinnipiac University Poll released Monday afternoon.
In a survey of 497 likely Ohio voters conducted in the days after the first presidential debate, 47 percent of respondents backed Trump, versus 42 percent who picked Clinton. Another 6 percent sided with Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson.
Among other results released Monday, Trump was ahead of Clinton in Florida (46 percent-41 percent). Clinton was preferred in North Carolina (46 percent-43 percent) and Pennsylvania (45 percent-41 percent). The results had a margin of error of more than 4 percentage points.
Likely voters in Florida, North Carolina, Ohio and Pennsylvania, the four largest and most important Swing States seem little closer to an Election Day decision, Peter A. Brown, assistant director of the poll, said in a released statement. The good news for Sec. Clinton is that she has opened a five-point lead in Florida, in what had been a dead heat in Quinnipiac Universitys Sept. 8 poll. But Donald Trump holds his lead in Ohio and stays close in North Carolina while she retains her small margin in Pennsylvania. Connecticut-based Quinnipiac regularly gauges the opinions of Ohioans and voters in other swing states on candidates and issues.
Among Ohio voters questioned over the past week, 50 percent said Clinton won the first presidential debate, with 24 percent siding with Trump.
Trump was ahead of Clinton among independent voters who were questioned. In some states, figuring why one candidate is doing better than the other takes some head scratching, but not in Ohio, Brown said. Trumps 19-point lead among independent voters tells us almost all we need to know. Sec. Clinton must close that gap to come back in the Buckeye State.
But Ohio doesn’t matter anymore, according to the NYSlimes. I wonder what is the next state that doesn’t matter anymore. Florida? Virginia?
If this is true... it’ll soon show up in other states with similar demographics. He’s pulling populations not states.
I’m hoping not for a landslide but an avalanche!

Virginia’s the one. Tough nut to crack. Shouldn’t be but it’s changing.
Pretty low turnout as usual. Hillary should send her double out for all these events.
If Pennsylvania would turn for Trump it would be over.
very tight camera shot, only the background fillers were visible. The pool camera concealed the crowd.
anyone have a wide shot of this rally?
I think the scary thing is that I think this is pretty accurate, but I think Trump is pretty down in the other Quinnipiac state polls, right?
So... they bumped Hillary’s numbers in all the polls, but thought it would look fishy giving her Ohio!
Hillary and the effetes are counting on a super delegate strategy to win by electoral college or have a tie.
the Minion Media keeps putting FL in Clinton’s column regardless of polls.
Western and Central Virginia is loaded with "Trump/Pence" signs. I finally saw a "Clinton/Kaine" (Is Tim Kaine homosexual?) sign today. I haven't been in Alexandria, Arlington, or Richmond, so my observations aren't really a fair sample. But Trump is definitely winning the sign war in rural VA.
Think that article is wrong about the Florida poll- believe it’s Hillary who leads by 5 in the Quinnipiac poll:
Good!! She is pounding the airwaves with ads here in the Cleveland area. I have seen at least 5 ads within the last hour. Glad to see it’s not making a dent in Trumps lead. Let her waste her money here!!
Fairfax county ruins the entire state. I’m concerned they say she’s up in FL but more Republicans have requested ballots. I don’t get it.
“FL but more Republicans have requested ballots. I dont get it.”
Not really sure how they get a good poll of Florida right now. A big chunk of Floridians are still up north for the summer and Indian summer; they won’t start coming back for another 2-4 weeks.
A five point lead for Clinton in FL?
No F-ing way!
” Im concerned they say shes up in FL but more Republicans have requested ballots. I dont get it.”
Of for Christ’s sake....
(((((((((((((A SURVEY =/= ACTUAL VOTES)))))))))))))))))
How is this a thing that people dont grasp?
“But Ohio doesnt matter anymore, according to the NYSlimes”
—It doesn’t matter if Trump loses FL NC CO
Would like to see these same headlines for FL and CO.....
