Cruz will run in two years and be easily reelected.
Yes, probably so. He likely still has a substantial set of supporters who have decided to quietly bide their time.
But you know what? They don’t amount numerically to anything significant. I suspect their numbers are even more diminished given Cruz’ self-serving and destructive address to the RNC. Anyone can support Ted Cruz; in his home state that may be enough to get re-elected.
But the one thing I do know. Nationally, his defenders will be the same ones that want to perpetuate the status quo and provide a thorn in the side of a Trump Presidency - all for their own nefarious purposes.
He will never, repeat NEVER EVER NEVER get any kind of well wish in what he’s chosen to become. He made his choice - I’ve made mine.
-——Anyone but Cruz for Texas Senator ion 2018——
His presidential chances are done. He burned all his bridges inside the party. He still has his hardcore supporters but the vast majority of conservatives, who would be most inclined to vote for him, won’t ever vote for him to be president.
Considering the fact that George P. Bush was elected to a position based solely on his name and people continue to return Cornyn to D.C., you may be right about Cruz being re-elected. Voters in our house didn’t and won’t vote for a Bush, haven’t voted for Cornyn for the past two elections and won’t vote for Cruz again.
That depends entirely on just who decides to take him on in a GOP primary. Now if it is Dan Patrick, Greg Abbott or Rich Perry, Cruz is toast. Cruz might be able to prevail against someone not well known, might. But if Sara Palin or Laura Ingraham decide to campaign for Cruz's opponent the road to victory get harder for our Canadian Senator.
A recent poll in Texas showed Cruz numbers at 43%.
After hanging himself in his convention speech, he will
drop even further, encouraging primary challengers.
Not so fast on prediction Cruz will be re-elected.
“Cruz will run in two years and be easily reelected.”
I’m in Texas and I say otherwise. I’d bet you money on it, but I don’t think you’ll last that long on Free Republic.
Don't bet on it...I'm in Texas and LuzinCruz is quickly and deeply losing his footing!! IF the party can find an electable alternative...LuzinCruz is GONE!!
Be more concerned about one of San Antonio's Castro brothers getting some SERIOUS national money and support and taking-out whomever runs on the GOP Senator ticket in 2018.
People will remember how Ted embarrassed Texas and the Republican party at the convention.
