Donald Trump holds a 6-point lead over his Republican rivals on the eve of the Kansas caucuses, according to a new poll released Friday.
Trump is supported by 35 percent of likely GOP caucusgoers, followed by Ted Cruz, at 29 percent, Marco Rubio, at 17 percent, and John Kasich at 13 percent in the Trafalgar Group poll.
Public polling in the state has been infrequent. The Trafalgar poll is only the second survey included in the RealClearPolitics index of Kansas polls.
Cruz has 43 percent support among self-identified conservative Republicans, followed by Trump, at 30 percent, and Rubio, at 16 percent. Moderate Republicans split more evenly, with 36 percent for Trump, 25 percent for Kasich, 22 percent for Rubio and 10 percent for Cruz.
The poll comes on the same day that Trump dropped plans to appear at the Conservative Political Action Conference to instead campaign in Kansas. The decision earned Trump flak from conservative activists.
Trump plans to instead attend an event in Wichita on Saturday.
Rubio was holding a trio of events in Kansas on Friday, including a rally with Gov. Sam Brownback (R).
The survey of 1,010 likely GOP caucusgoers was conducted via telephone Wednesday and Thursday. The survey was held before the latest GOP debate on Thursday night and has a 3-point margin of error.
That is awesome. That is Trumps only difficult state tomorrow. And with Trump dumping stupid CPAC and going to Kansas, this should help him. Thank you fro this positive article. I am a bit more positive about Trumps chances in Kansas.
If Trump gets Kansas, he will sweep tomorrow.

I think it’s immigration driving this AND finally a real ‘guy’ in charge who won’t take any BS from anyone. Also the non PC stuff and he says what he thinks and isn’t scripted.

Cruz is like a TV evangelist and I don’t think a lot of people can get beyond his voice and sermon-like speeches.
That said, I do not take it for granted Trump will win. Anything can happen.

Trump could get 50% in Maine and sweep the delegates. The other 3 candidates are weak there. Perhaps 2nd place goes to Marco.

Cruz just got $12 million in donations just this month from rich donors. I wish Trump would start taking donations so it would be fairer. Only Trump will build the wall that will stop the invasion of socialist illegals that will vote to to turn the USA away from the Constitution and toward Socialism/statism.
Vote for Cruz if you want immigrants to take your job. China and India have more than 3 billion people in just those 2 countries. Cruz wants to bring most of them here with TPA TPP (obamatrade) , trade in services and also many Muslims.
