On Trump's claim that he "can't be bought"

Posted on 01/16/2016 8:57:39 AM PST by Truthsearcher

"You will hear... this argument that the rich man cannot be bribed. The fact is, of course, that the rich man is bribed; he has been bribed already. That is why he is a rich man."

Full disclosure, I am a Cruz supporter. Although Trump is my 2nd choice and I'd vote for him against any of the Dem candidates.

I just always found the argument that Trump "can't be bought" a bit disingenuous. He's one of the elites who have benefited from the corrupt system that currently exists. He freely admits to using campaign donations to politicians as means to get political favors, and he doesn't seem to have any ethical issues with having done so.

So if he was part of it, shows no remorse for having been part of it, why should we believe that all of a sudden he will abandon this way of doing things in the future.

The fact that the man openly brags about paying politicians because they could provide something he wants shows him to be a sleazeball who tries to paint himself as the clean bribe giver and the takers dirty.

That’s like the John calling the hooker filthy.

And a poor man can’t be bought! It’s called welfare.

And a middle class man can’t be bought! It’s called student loans, home mortgage deduction, and whatever other freebies.

Everyone can be bought!!!!

My first choice is Trump but if Cruz were to win then I would vote for him too.

Obviously, no person can be rich, when compared with anyone of less affluent status, without being bribed.

Are you richer than anyone else?

I think you are in the same boat as allot of us. I also will vote Cruz, though Ohio rarely matters in the primaries. It is wall to wall political adds from June through November as we are a swing state of all swing states.

I think we had better get used to the idea of voting for Trump as it looks more and more like he will wrap this up by March.

I think Trump is a crony capitalist to be sure, but I also believe he is a real pro American first patriot who is sickened by what this country has become. I think he will be OK, particularly if he gets the Immigration issue under control.

So the only way to get rich is to get bribes?

I am sure Bernie and Hillary would agree with that statement 10000%.

They would both cheer and cream their jeans over that statement.

Once one accepts the fact that there are no choir boys running in the race, one is left with a simple choice: the hooker or the John.

Considering there is no other choice, I’ll take Donald JOHN Trump and leave the Ted ‘streetwalker’ Cruz on the ash heap along with the rest of the slick politicians.

Shows he is an astute business man in the corrupt New York City. If you had any money you’d know the corruption of such environments.

how different is that than WASHINGTON D>C>?

lets try this simple comparison:

“Shows he is an astute POLITICIAN in the corrupt WASHINGTON D>C>. If you had any money you’d know the corruption of such environments.”

see how easy that was?

Chesterton was speaking of a mammon attitude.

Does or doesn’t Trump have the spark of something more in his heart?

Well, he might have a spark of more; not everything he has proposed is along the lines of mammon.

If God is allowed to go toe to toe with the devil, then the devil will lose, despite whatever dancing the devil has done in the past.

We’ve all bowed to the devil in various ways in our lives. It is part of the sad package known as the fall of humanity. Sometimes when I philosophize spiritually (and I dare not go beyond the bounds of what the bible documents as transpired) I wonder if primordial, sinless humanity could communicate soul to soul, in the original of what the ungodly world describes as extra sensory perception. This made a collusion possible and made it possible for all the souls of humanity to join in a mutual choice to say Amen to the serpent’s proposition to attempt to know good and evil without benefit of God’s illumination. That would be you and I too. Certainly the bible says “God created men upright; but men have gone after many schemes.”

How can we see a way forward from it. Well whatever it is, it can’t fail to engage the people of the land in greater belief (trust, faith, confidence, hope) in God if it is to be forward. Could this kind of awareness be raised through Trump’s concept of a deal? We can’t and shouldn’t try to legislate a theocracy; however we can let God’s answer to our faiths show us how to restructure our government to something that is much more humane, fair, and just. That is a better witness for gospel attitudes without trying to pressure people into believing, which would be an oxymoron.

Fine by me. We need someone that can play the system for our benefit instead of theirs.

You make a good point - he does espouse New York City values.

Cruz is also playing the game and would need to as much as anyone, including Trump. I’ll take a professional at it like Trump instead of an amateur like Cruz.

Anyone can be bribed...and some can bribe to get rich.

Trump bribed, to some extent, to help get rich. He’s open about it as the alternative was to see his building permit applications get ‘lost in the mail’ over and over again. That is how New York is run, and everyone knows it.
