During an appearance yesterday on MSNBC, âHardballâ host Chris Matthews said that if progressives werenât so consumed with discussing the antics of Donald Trump, theyâd realize that Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) is a âscarierâ candidate for president.
âI expect if [Trump] keeps in there fighting against somebody like Cruz theyâre going to realize something that really is scary to most moderates and progressives, that Cruz is scarier than Trump and that will be a frightening prospect to realize that Trump is the more â well, heâs not acceptable to progressives, but when you look at him against Cruz,â Matthews said.
âI mean, Cruz, if we werenât talking about Trump, weâd be talking about the horror of this country possibly being led by Cruz,â Matthews continued. âSo, itâs a strange competition and the people that are left out of this, it seems, are what used to be called the Republican establishment.â(continued)

Knowing how to table a motion indefinitely didn't necessarily translate to having any influence. In fact, it may have gotten in the way. Lyndon Johnson understood that you needed to have parliamentarians who understood all that, but they were rarely the people pulling the strings.
The guy who knows the rules may be clever at using them, but probably isn't a match for those who use strong-arm tactics and are willing to go around or outside the rules. So, no, Ted Cruz isn't "dangerous."
“Enemy of the state???” You sure you ain’t a Communist, Chris?
Combined PING! and DANG!
(Maybe Chris would feel more comfy in a cage.)
Just remember that Trump did support national health care at one time and was recently a Democrat.
Oh, I have no illusions about Trump. The primary reason he’s in the running for my vote has to do with the potential (welcome) carnage he might bring. To both the ossified PC stranglehold, as well as the government-media-Wall Street nexus. Whether he starts the country back on the right path (unlikely, maybe 20% chance), or tears the whole country into bloomin’ half (maybe 80% chance), it’s still a win-win, either way.
Truthfully, Cruz is more my style. But I am thinking America has devolved beyond the point where the old paradigms matter anymore. The country has passed the event-horizon.
I Vote for that!
“Scarier than Trump” must mean he has a better chance of winning it all.
