When Sen. Ted Cruz jumped into the Republican presidential primary, he was largely dismissed as an attention-grabbing agitator with a knack for firing up conservatives, whose long-shot campaign was destined to remain on the fringes.
But as the GOP contest winnows into a defining struggle between the partyâs establishment and conservative factions, the ostrich-boot wearing Texan suddenly looks like the hard-right candidate best positioned to go the distance, perhaps even squaring off for the nomination.
Cruz's rise is partly the result of methodical campaign planning, but also sheer luck....

[Cruz’s rise is partly the result of methodical campaign planning, but also sheer luck....]
There is no such thing as luck.
Trump took all the incoming this past summer and fall. This has allowed Ted Cruz to focus on his campaign out of the line of fire. Also, Trump has pretty much taken Jebbie Bush out of the game and this also allows Cruz a path he otherwise might not have had.
“Analysis Ted Cruz: From fringe to presidential material, thanks in part to Donald Trump”
Fringe? If anything, Ted Cruz is the most mainstream candidate out there. Anyone to the left of him is fringe.
Uh oh. Are they starting to build Cruz up to then tear him down?
Yep.
Divine intervention is more likely.
Trump has done the spade work. He stuck himself out there and has sent to the curb almost all the GOPe candidates. Cruz sure didn’t do that. If Trump is gone, Cruz better get ready to do what Trump has done, if not, the GOPe is going to win.
Why do people assume that Trump is doing any of this for Cruz’s personal benefit?
Trump has been the one making the big policy moves early, saying the tough things that would have sunk anyone else, and taking all of the fire, and routing establishment candidates.
This isn’t making Cruz “presidential material”. It is allowing him to exist without having to get dirty.
Bingo! Cruz is a shrewd candidate and I hope he continues to rise to the TOP!
It is so great that now all you have to do is look at the source (i.e. LA Times) and know instantly not to go there. Poor MSM is moribund.
That’s the thing giving me the most concern.
Winning by default (if Trump leaves for any reason) is leaving you with virtually no experience having to combat the forces Trump has for months. On top of that, you will have factions that will look at him as just opportunistic and too sneaky.
And it’s giving his base overconfidence. They see him as some divinely-guided figure that is invincible, not as a candidate that has avoided as much direct confrontation as possible on-purpose, while having Trump take all of the fire.
PING!
CRUZ ~ Noticed and moving on up.....the next in line to take down?
GO TRUMP GO CRUZ!! YOU WIN OR WE LOSE!
Uh, the presidential election is not the sole work of the District of Columbia.
Therefore, Ted Cruz can assent without their okay.
YOU WIN OR WE LOSE!
I did not know you were a poet.;-)
Cruz is the MSN’s new flavor of the week/month. The next batter up to try to knock Trump from his 1st place perch. It will fail like all the other attempts. Walker (gone), Perry (gone), Paul, Fiorina, Bush all went after Trump, failed miserably and all dropped into single digits in the polls. Ben Carson is starting to drop in the polls now too..
Then it was Rubio and Christy (both failed to topple The Donald. Now here comes Cruz. This one will be a little different as Cruz will not attack Trump. They like each other, and are somehow in cahoots, I believe. I think Cruz is aiming for being Trump’s VP. They would make a good team, and as I think Trump, due to his age will only be Prez for one 4 year term, Cruz will then be perfectly positioned to run for Prez and win. He will still be a young man.
Nonsense.
