Lindsey Graham: Cruz Could Take GOP Nomination If Carson Dropped Out
Newsmax ^ | November 10, 2015 | Todd Beamon

Republican presidential candidate Lindsey Graham told Newsmax TV Tuesday that rival Ted Cruz was "well positioned" to eventually win the nomination if Ben Carson dropped out of the race.

"If something happened to Carson, some of the voters would go to Cruz," the South Carolina senator told "The Steve Malzberg Show" in an interview. "At the end of the day, you've got four or five people who would be really good candidates.

"I include myself in that list, but how do you beat Hillary Clinton? You have to get more votes than she does."(continued)

Linda acts like that would be a bad thing.

I don’t see much overlap there.
I think if Carson dropped out the majority of his support would go to Rubio since their positions are the most similar.

Wow, first thing that Linda has said in a long time that I agreed with - the part about Cruz gaining votes if Carson leaves, NOT the part about Linda being a good candidate.

I also believe that Trump would begin to run away with the nomination if Carson left. That’s why the media, which desperately wants to derail Trump, is pumping him up as much as possible.

Linda is attempting to administer a Black Widow kiss of death.

My guess is he loathes Ted Cruz.

Well now, kinda gives us yet another reason to urge Carson to leave the race.

IIRC, wasn’t there some poll out a couple of days ago that showed Trump picking up about 60% of Carson’s support if Carson dropped out, and Rubio and Cruz basically splitting the rest?

There’s a good deal of overlap in the Venn diagram of Carson vs. Trump support, as they both appeal to outsiders who are tired of the status quo.

Cruz appeals to political hacks and insiders who are more conservative, Rubio to political hacks and insiders who are less so.

I've supported Cruz with donations since the night he announced, but there is no way, in my opinion, that he can win POTUS with Trump in the race.

I find myself a Cruz supporter that believes Trump will get the election.

POTUS and VPOTUS. Trump and Cruz. IMHO.

Has anyone else noticed that the world is ignoring the frontrunner in this race. Trump has made history, stayed in front for months yet the media, political parties, and others ignore Trump like he’s not in the race.

I feel like I’m in the Twilight Zone.

See Guliani. See Santorum. See Huckabee.

Nothing Trump is doing is historical. Sorry to drop the bomb.

Others were ignored BEFORE they got in the lead. I’ve never seen the obvious, no way to dispute it leader blown off like this.

I think that Cruz also has somewhat of an appeal to outsider fans, because: a) he hasn’t been in DC that long, so he’s not tarnished with the disaster they’ve created; and b) he’s been a giant stake hammered into the lungs of the GOPe. Cruz will get more of Carson’s voters than Rubio, but I do agree with you that more than both of them (and perhaps more than both together) will go to Trump.

I’m wonder how you are seeing him being ignored?

He’s sucked all the oxygen out of the room, he’s the focal point of every debate and hosted SNL.

He’s definitely not being ignored by anyone. If anything he’s getting too much attention for being highly vague on just about everything except the wall.

I suspect Meghan wouldn’t be much help with anything feminine!

And forgive me, but Lindsey Graham just strikes me as a person very similar to Bradley/Chelsea Manning.

Carson voter are not voting on the issues. If they were, they wouldn’t be Carson voters. The support Carson on the misassumption that he shares their faith. Those faith based voters would go to Cruz.
