The retired neurosurgeon seeking his party's nomination for the White House made these remarks in a 1998 address at Andrews University, a school associated with the Seventh-day Adventist Church, to which he belongs, in a video posted Wednesday on Buzzfeed. The church is a conservative evangelical Christian one.
"My own personal theory is that Joseph built the pyramids to store grain," Carson said.

This should help Carson attract more Evangelical voters.
This is so old—probably 25-30 years from the way he looks.
They sure are digging.
When white folks was in caves.
Digging? Maybe, but this is dated today.

Ben Carson’s unusual theory about pyramids
NAPLES, Florida — Ben Carson stood by his long-held belief about ancient pyramids in Egypt, that they were used to store grain, rather than to inter pharaohs.
Asked about this Wednesday, Carson told CBS News, “It’s still my belief, yes.”
The subject came up when Buzzfeed published a 1998 commencement speech delivered by Carson at Andrews University, a college founded by Seventh-day Adventists.
“My own personal theory is that Joseph built the pyramids to store grain,” Carson said. “Now all the archeologists think that they were made for the pharaohs’ graves. But, you know, it would have to be something awfully big if you stop and think about it. And I don’t think it’d just disappear over the course of time to store that much grain.”
It is old, but this is the whims of politics. If Buzzfeed picked up on this, it will start to filter into social media. That’s a shame because it should be a non-issue. But if it hits Twitter and Facebook hard, it could be trouble for the Carson campaign.
One misstep is all it takes to reinforce a narrative that others want to put on you.
I think this is something ridiculous, but ridiculous things have made a difference before.
When one runs for president, one is subject to lot of digging. How many of Trump’s ancient statements have been posted right here?
This post below has a good diagram of Pyramid internal passageways. I(t sure does not look anything like a storage structure. Carson is a strange turkey.
'Forget it, he's rolling.'
Doesn’t matter; the man is a blithering idiot and doesn’t knows factual Egyptian history!
“This should help Carson attract more Evangelical voters.’
No they are smarter than that. It will get the Ancient Aliens crowd to support him though
Actually, just the opposite.
The SDAâs are supposed to be very literal in their reading of the Bible. There is nothing in the Bible about the grain being stored in the pyramids. In fact in Gen 41:
46 Joseph was thirty years old when he entered the service of Pharaoh king of Egypt. And Joseph went out from Pharaohââ¬â¢s presence and traveled throughout Egypt. 47 During the seven years of abundance the land produced plentifully. 48 Joseph collected all the food produced in those seven years of abundance in Egypt and stored it in the cities. In each city he put the food grown in the fields surrounding it. 49 Joseph stored up huge quantities of grain, like the sand of the sea; it was so much that he stopped keeping records because it was beyond measure.
So, in fact, Carson is either dead wrong about the pyramids, or he is weak in his SDA faith.
Anyone who pushes on this can devastate Carson.
No it won’t; they don’t believe that the pyramids were built to store grain in.
Why is social security called a Pyramid scheme? May be doc Carson thinks there is food for thought in social security!
“It will get the Ancient Aliens crowd to support him though”
Futures contracts for tin foil hats are gonna go through the roof, are they?
