In 2016 race, voters still shopping for a candidate to love (RINO-riffic!)
CNN Political Op-Ed ^ | October 6, 2015 | Alex Castellanos, Republican strategist

Yes, it is time again to play that game, "What's Happening in The Campaign For Leadership Of The Free World?" A few observations, from the front lines:

1. Last week, a friend reported on an Iowa focus group. Of 31 Republican voters, only one was irrevocably committed to a candidate. The rest split their preferences among two candidates or more. Point: This race is remarkably fluid. Voters are still shopping.

2. There is no impetus for Republican voters to place their final bets soon. They fear their country is in decline, and this may be their last chance to save it. They will take all the time allowed because they believe their country is balancing on a razor blade and can't afford the wrong choice. Barring an unexpected, crystallizing event, this race will break late. Good drama for us all.

3. When the choice matters that much, voters are inclined to think the best choice is the safest choice. Jeb Bush pays a heavy price for his last name, but the closer we get to Iowa and New Hampshire, the more the Bush brand will help. Rolling out George W. Bush on the campaign trail is going to look like an increasingly good idea. Nearly 60% of Iowa voters see the former President as an asset to his brother.

4. Why isn't Chris Christie in the consideration set for this race? After all, there is no evidence yet that Christie had a direct role in the Bridgegate scandal. That, however, is Christie's problem: Christie didn't have to tell his staff to punish a political adversary's voters and, yet, they did exactly that -- because Christie's style became his administration's ruthless political culture. It's hard to imagine how he recovers....

Republican . . . fear their country is in decline, and this may be their last chance to save it. They will take all the time allowed because they believe their country is balancing on a razor blade and can't afford the wrong choice.

That is a very common belief, and it is true. If Obamacare survives to January, 2018, America is dead. If Obama's Amnesty is forced through and stands a year into a real president's term, America is dead. If one more infringement on our individual, God-given right to keep and bear arms is imposed, America is dead.

We are living in far more dangerous times than when we just faced Hitler, Stalin, Mao, or Brezhnev. Internal enemies are always the most dangerous, and we are facing a lot of them. We have to dismantle Obama's destructive legacy, or the last best hope for mankind will disappear. I cannot imagine a more frightening outcome than for America to lead the war against freedom, but that is almost a 50-50 chance from where we now stand.

There is a big difference between not being irrevocably settled on one candidate (especially in this large a field) and not having decided what type of candidate that you want. Personally, I’m in the Santorum/Cruz/Jindal camp. I might consider Carson, Trump, or Huckabee. But I won’t be voting for Kasich or Graham or Christie or Pataki. One would be off base big time to think that Cruz supporters will be moving in large part to Kasich, or that Santorum supporters would be moving in mass to support Pataki. The exact location of the line may not have been drawn yet, but it would be a mistake to think that the lines haven’t at least in large part been already irrevocably drawn.

There is a wide, deep valley dividing friend from foe. The candidates may not all stand at the same point on the slopes, but don’t be mistaken. Some are definitely on one side of the valley and some on the other.

Just make DAMN SURE it’s the RIGHT ONE. We will not survive another screw up like the last one!

In case you haven’t noticed, I’m a BILL WHITTLE fan.  I just “rediscovered” a 2 year old YouTube video entitled “CANNIBALS”.
Everyone on this list probably knows that it’s not about flesh-eating savages (or the Donner Party) but spend 7 minutes with this keen observer of the American scene anyway!
He pinpoints the source of our current mess at the end of the section beginning around  4:20, nailing it down around 4:45!

Allow me to bore you for another minute or so to say this:  If YOU — or a loved one — are called before the so-called bar of justice by “the state” for some real, imagined or CONTRIVED “CRIME” (yes, Virginia, the feds even have a special “Create-a-Crime” division in the Department of Just Us for those it finds especially “troublesome”), do you want them to have to defend yourself before a jury NOT of your peers, but one composed of pre-selected liberal, “progressive” government employees who come to the process already disposed to believe you to be an “enemy of the state” and, more important to them, a THREAT TO THEIR JOBS AND VAUNTED POSITION AS YOUR OVERLORD!  Wouldn’t it be helpful for the juror pool to contain at least SOME folks who can identify with the defendant?  If you aren’t registered to vote, they will be MIA!

The Founders left us four — count ‘em — FOUR “Boxes” with which, if we have the brains to use them, we were to preserve our freedoms:
1.  The SOAP BOX;
2.  The BALLOT BOX;
3.  The JURY BOX;
and, if those fail us — or are DENIED US — the last one
4.  The CARTRIDGE BOX!
Join me in praying that we can halt our slide toward tyranny BEFORE we must resort to the last one.  Because we are no longer the people we were then, I fear another “situation” such as that we experienced in 1776 will not have as sanguine an outcome.

PS: With the massive VOTER FRAUD being perpetrated by the left, staying home is NOT AN OPTION!!

Fence sitters who wait up until election day to make up their minds is one reason why he lose.

They are swayed by what the media says and the direction of prevailing winds...

It’s BEYOND logic why ohh why in this election season that we have a soild conservative candidate to support that many who claim that they are conservative are still window shopping for a candidate.
