The new Trump strategy behind tonight’s candidates’ debate

Republican candidates used a hands-off approach to Donald Trump in the first debate. It didn’t work.

In the first U.S. Republican presidential debate, most candidates took a hands-off approach to Donald Trump and hoped the brash billionaire would hurt himself.

Instead, he only got stronger.

Trump’s unexpected durability has led some of his rivals to shift their strategy for Wednesday’s second debate. Now their goal is to engage Trump, without inflicting any damage on their own campaigns.

The change reflects an evolution in the way Trump is viewed within the U.S. Republican Party. No longer dismissed as a summer fling for frustrated voters, Republicans increasingly see Trump as a candidate who could remain atop the field for months and win some early state contests.

“He’s in complete, total control of the political battle space,” said Steve Schmidt, a top strategist for Sen. John McCain’s 2008 presidential campaign....

“He’s in complete, total control of the political battle space,”

Nothing changed.

I think Trump wounded Fiorina and Bush. How much they bleed remains to be seen. The media will likely patch them both up.

“He’s in complete, total control of the political battle space...”

And strangely, the media deflection shields don't seem to be working...

Good Classy Debate

This article best describes how smart Trump is compared to the others.

Jake Tapper made the Fox Team look small and petty

Love to see these poor Rhino heads burst in frustration. Johnny “Bonehead orange man I'll have another double martini” Boehner and turtle face Mitch “the spineless wonder” McDumbo probably had to change their under ware tonight. Keep a few extra pairs on hand feckless fools, it will only get worse for you.

Bush, yes... Think Trump and Fiorina had a standoff, no one got the better of the other

I think he did too.
He blasted her CEO performance.
While His $10 billion success is unassailable.
He schooled Jeb on the 14th.
And I expect the next debate will have fewer participants because he raised the issue of two many people.

This hero worship of the rich guy is all too bizarre.

George Soros is far more wealthy than Donald Trump

match those qualifications if you will

no they DONT mean anything relative to be the POTUS do they!!

It's not about his wealth. Trump is the only candidate that has corectly identified our trade policies as resulting in too many jobs lost overseas and our high unemployment.

Fix that and you reduce government expenditures while raising government revenues. You fix a lot of other issues too. You can afford to meet our commitments on SS and Medicare and Medicaid and Veterans benefits. You can afford to build up the military.

Soros is rich but has the wrong solutions. Trump has the right solutions. And the skill that Trump has from his management experience and his deal making will serve him well in the White House.

You’re having a hard time hearing him. It’s about his business acumen. It’s about his deal making ability. It’s about his not being beholden to special interests. And it’s about making America great again.

“His success as a businessman aside from the four bankruptcies..”

I heard on Levin that when these companies filed bankruptcy, Trump was a minority shareholder and the companies were licensing his name.

Anyone else hear this? or more info to add?
