Republican presidential candidate Gov. John Kasich slammed Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) in Wednesday nights debate for being willing to shut down the government to defund Planned Parenthood. But Kasich previously loved government shutdowns.
Kasich said that there are ways for governors to defund Planned Parenthood in their own states, but he strongly criticized the idea of a government shutdown. Kasich said that a shutdown would not accomplish anything and would only inflame people against Republicans. Kasich cited his own efforts to balance the budget, as House Budget Chairman in 1995 under Speaker Newt Gingrich, as an accomplishment that could be made without shutting down the government. Kasich said that Republicans went around the president [Clinton] to balance the budget.
But Kasichs attack on Cruz rings false, because he was part of a Republican shutdown effort in 1995 that helped lead to the adoption of GOP budget priorities.
Kasich praised his own shutdown efforts in his 2006 book Stand For Something(continued)

What’s a kasich? Some kind of sausage?
Kasich sent himself to the bottom tier tonight. PS he needs a new barber.
Kasich looked like he fell out of a tree and walked onto the stage.
I think Cruz did very well tonight, when he got to talk...
And Trump put everyone in their rightful places, and protected Cruz as much as he could, with all the hits he was getting, but he did good!!!
She was pushy, refuse to talk to Putin , her lies at HP and Lucent.
Great desrciption.
My son sent me a text saying he thought Kasich looked insane.
I thought Cruz dropped the ball on that response. How about educating the people watching about which branch is responsible for deciding what the budget will be. Point out Congress doesn’t serve at the pleasure of the president and it isn’t in the President’s authority to tell Congress what they can, or can’t do. Point out Congress has every intention of sending a CR that will fund almost all of the government, it is Obama who will veto it shutting down the government.
Johnny needs to just go home and ruin Ohio some more

Oh please don’t start that crap again. Last debate you all complained poor little Cruz didn’t get to talk and then we found out he had WAY more talk time then the super majority of candidates. Cruz is such a complainer and doesn’t inspire at all. He was really arrogant to think he can TELL THE SUPREME COURT how to vote.....Mr. Obama clone is a dictator apparently.
It's also worth noting that the Senator Shandling character is a pro-Establishment mole who is working with the secret terrorist Hydra organization seeking to take over the world.
Kasich was sort of all over the place on some issues.
In one exchange, he was all for the Iranian nuke deal.
Then, Cruz responded to the deal and how bad it was. In Cruz style, he gave facts and figures.
The Kasich changed to opposing the Iranian deal.
A few questions later, Kasich was back to supporting the Iranian deal.
He made a full 360-degree on that issue within a few minutes.
Kasich was doing a lot of politicospeak. He should start listening to himself so he knows what he is saying.
All Kasich kept saying was we have to get together with our allies - our allies will follow when we lead, not when we go hat in hand begging for help that never comes - except from Britain, Australia and Canada usually and now Poland who has been a staunch friend.
“My son sent me a text saying he thought Kasich looked insane.”
LOL Perhaps Kasich will take a shower before the next debate.
Basically.
Actually, it was OBAMA who threatened to shut down the govt if the congress voted to defund Planned parenthood.
Geeeeeez ..!! I wish Repubs would take more care in finding out the truth before they go around blaming Cruz for something he never said.
Maybe somebody needs to inform Kasich that it was Obama who made the threat.

FWIW I think their calculation of Ted's time was a bit high.
And at one point, when Ted tried to interject into the debate about climate change, he was cut off by the moderator. There seemed to be an effort by the moderators to limit Ted's time as much as possible.
