In spite of Carson’s stance on many issues, he would still be head and shoulders better than the current community organizer in White House, with his phone & pen. But that is not saying much. All 17 candidates would be better than Obama or Hillary.

“The gun statement was made years ago and has been clarified by Carson in recent months.”

BS. This was less than a year ago...before he had GOPe Handlers to try to straighten him out.

Physicians are used to being deferred to and taking the lead. This carries over to situations where they are not knowledgeable or competent.
If anything a transplant surgeon would be even more used to being treated like a VIP and being isolated from the scrum of the real world.

A businessman would be a far more able leader & deal maker than someone from an ivory tower trying out his armchair ideas on the rough and tumble world. America needs a strong leader not a charming man with leftist leanings, however competent as a surgeon.

This is a prevalent belief and would be quite troubling but it appears to be a misinterpretation of the actual candidate’s words:

From Forbes: http://www.forbes.com/sites/dandiamond/2015/07/31/donald-trump-hates-obamacare-so-i-asked-him-how-hed-replace-it/
Q: About 15 years ago, Mr. Trump publicly pledged his support for universal health care, and said that he’s “liberal” when it comes to expanding coverage. Is that still the case?

A: Donald Trump has never supported socialized medicine. In ‘The America We Deserve,’ Mr. Trump called for health market reforms that would be “affordable, well-administrated, and provide freedom of choice.” He supported a universal “market-based” plan that would offer a range of choices.

Mr. Trump does not believe socialized medicine is the solution to expanding coverage. The federal government is clearly incapable of managing [one-fifth] of the total economy. The ObamaCare federal and state exchange websites, which cost over $5 billion, could not even operate properly.

The only solution is a free market orientated [sic.] plan that provides consumer choice, keeps plans portable and affordable and returns authority to the states. We also must break the insurance company monopolies and allow individuals to purchase health insurance across state lines.

In a recent speech his comments are confusing without the clarification above. His form of universal care appears to be a medicaid like approach where people in poverty receive care.
“You can’t let the people in this country that are the poor people, the people without the money and resources go without healthcare,” Trump told the MSNBC program. “I just can’t even imagine. You’re sick and you can’t even go to a doctor. I say one thing, can you not let 25 percent of the people of the country because they have no money go without something?”

He continued that a deal has to be worked out with hospitals “to take care of those people that can’t really take care of themselves. I’m very strong on that.”

And he said he doesn’t think that stance will be a problem, even among staunch conservatives.

That is why I didn’t comment on that. I knew he had changed his position on guns.

I only commented on immigration because those statements were made recently.

when he sang the praises of Scotland’s government system and Canada’s government system AT THE DAMNED AUGUST DEBATE - I didn’t make no interpretation errors.

Go ahead, project what you want and believe it at your own risk.

> Burning ethanol produces exactly the same CO2 as burning gasoline. And, growing corn requires using energy, water, fertilizer. And it adds to the cost of food because instead of using corn to feed animals, it is directed to produce ethanol.

well I can tell a real difference in performance on my vehicle. It's a little sluggish by comparison with ethanol. I have heard one mechanic tell me it wasn't good for my engine.

Your mechanic is correct. There are more BTU’s in a cubic inch of gasoline than a cubic inch of ethanol.

The GOPe, in particular, Jeb Bush, hopes to use Carson to blunt Trump by splitting the vote.

Democrats who like Trump won't like him, and most of the Republicans are very upset about the illegal immigration of Barack Obama. So Carson will appear weak to them too.

You will see dozens of polls soon, showing Carson beating Trump. They will be complete fabrications.

Cruz has never “evolved”. He’s been a conservative all along. I highly question people that had very liberal stances and then when running for the republican nomination they suddenly flop around like a fish on a dock.

Carson appears to be a nice guy but he is NOT the best next candidate for prez

I wasn’t impugning your interpretation I was suggesting that he may be using too broad a brush by calling for universal healthcare. The amplification doesn’t sound like that at all. Judging by his initial views on Planned Parenthood and his retrenching when he saw the videos he may not know much about Canadian and Scottish healthcare which are both execrable.
