After Sen. Rand Paul (R-Kentucky) released a video criticizing real-estate magnate Donald Trump for his past allegiances with Democratic candidates, Trump had a familiar response at the ready.
"Recently, Rand Paul called me and asked me to play golf," Trump said in a statement. "I easily beat him on the golf course and will even more easily beat him now, in the world in the politics."
Then he added: "Senator Paul does not mention that after trouncing him in golf I made a significant donation to the eye center with which he is affiliated."
Republican candidates are learning the hard way that Donald Trump has an ace in the hole when they come after him.
For one thing, they have probably dealt with him in the past and there's a good chance they have asked him for money.
Since announcing his presidential campaign earlier this summer, Trump has traded barbs with many of his GOP rivals over immigration, foreign policy, and his conservative credentials.
But rather than engaging with them in detailed policy debates, the real-estate magnate has instead revealed embarrassing anecdotes about his personal relationships with the candidates....

They're only "embarrassing" because hypocrisy, not intrinsically.
Lol. So Trump is saying certain people are bad by saying he’s cronies with bad people?
No doubt almost all of the others came to Trump in the past, hat in hand, asking for "support" (money), and I'm sure he remembers each and every occurrence.
Trump is weeding out the RINOs in the GOPe run for the POTUS....Cruz is talking politics, which between the two of them they are showing us the right path to follow....
Go Trump/Cruz 2016!!!
Trump/Cruz sounds great to me!
I would also take the reverse and give Trump unprecedented powers for a VP in shaking up the Fed, Trade and whatever else he can shake up..
Not sure how calling attention to Paul’s pro bono eye surgeries hurts Paul... what am I missing here?
Not a Trump supporter here, but my take is that Trump plays them as fools. It is not a matter of good or bad to him, it is simply a game. That's a reality that I do not like. I wonder if Trump would like the rules of the game changed.
Agreed there’s a big difference between a donation to a charity and a political donation. Trump himself admitted his political donations were “ Pay to Play” donations.
Trump is picking off the weak candidates. He has punked Linseed Graham. He burned Rick Perry. He has eviscerated Rand Paul. He is after Scott Walker and Jeb Bush. Cruz will be picking up support with every candidate that Trump trumps.
He will not go after Ben Carson. Carson will probably not attack Trump and is far to decent a man for anyone to attack. Carson would make a great VP. Cruz/Carson. Beat that ticket.
I just heard Jeb on Fox News say of an Al Gore presidential run, “Well, at least he’s qualified.”
Ha ha. Who do you think the “unqualified” one is?
He has not power over the Fed except in appointments - it is half private, as you know.
LoL. If Trump was so bad why were you Paul sniffing around looking for his money?
Just like Mexico, China, Mideast, Russia take them as fools.☺
But these fools are dangerous as they have their own agendas, which have all but left America dead on the floor.
Does DT have an ace-in-the-hole on H->? Me-Gyn?
Just another indication the GOPe would rather have a Democrat president than a nationalist they can’t control, be it Trump or Cruz.
Trump is a RINO.
You nailed it
Go Trump/Cruz 2016!!!
