Mark your calendar: The most talked-about talent competition since Major Bowes Original Amateur Hour will be broadcast Aug. 6 on Fox News, from the new entertainment capital of the world, Cleveland. Ten Republican presidential contenders -- those ranked highest in the five most recent national polls prior to the event -- out of a possible field of 19, at last count, will share the stage. Theyll all be vying for the hearts of an electorate that pollsters contend is already in love with probable Democrat standard-bearer Hillary Clinton.
The Fox extravaganza is more likely to be a sound-bite marathon than a debate. The selection process will bruise at least nine considerable egos. After all, these presidential hopefuls are not a collection of log-splitting country bumpkins. The possible contenders include at least five sitting governors, five former governors, four sitting senators, one former senator, a former Fortune 500 CEO, and a brain surgeon.
They are entering the race now, more than a year ahead of the Republican convention, to raise cash, set up organizations, and meet primary deadlines.
Loath to be outdone by Foxs winnowing, weve narrowed the field further, to seven we think will still be in the running for the nomination next March, after 57% of the 2,470 GOP delegates have been selected. They include Jeb Bush, a former two-term Florida governor who hasnt campaigned since 2002, and who, we are told, will try branding himself merely as Jeb; former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee, who had a second career on Fox News; and first-term Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, a conservative hero noted for his debating skill and his support from the conservative billionaire Koch brothers....

why isn’t shifty Bernie the pervert being labeled an extremist like Cruz by the media. He who wants a one deodorant fits all country.
There are only two candidates that have sided with the citizens and the rule of law.
All the others should not be considered conservative.
well who knows what Barrons has to say behind their paywall...
I’m waiting for the MSM to let me know. /s
In the long run they will. The one they feel they can defeat will be the one they tell us is our strongest candidate. The one they really fear will be the one they claim is the least likely to win.
Is there some way we can read the rest of this without subscribing?
I ‘m curious to know who their possible winners are. Personally, I think Walker will be the candidate; Bush and the more liberal wing are fading, I don’t think Rubio is quite tough enough to do it (although he’s an excellent speaker).
I’d like to see either Fiorina or Jindal get more exposure, because they’re both quite conservative and smart. But I don’t think there’s enough money behind them. And the GOP-e doesn’t like them.
Cruz and Walker. All the others are ‘meh’
I would vote for Sanders before I would vote for Jeb Bush OR Marco Rubio (Or Pataki or Kasich or Graham). Cruz, Walker, Fiorina, Trump, Perry, Santorum are all acceptable.
Sanders is an American, and although his policies to help America are wrong and even a little bizarre, there is no chance that he could enact his vision and I do not believe he is a totalitarian (unlike O’Malley or HRC, both of whom would be very, very dangerous).
Rubio.
Jeb Bush is flaming out and he’ll inherit the rino money.
Cruz has lots of money too, he still has a very good chance.
You need to guess who the media will pick. That would Jeb Bush.
The media thinks Rubio too. That's why there was that clumsy hit piece about speeding tickets today.
If there were hit pieces on Bush, I'd consider him more likely.
google the headline or a more permanent solution is to install RefControl into Firefox and cut and paste the following into a text file and import it into RefControl:

I don’t care who it is as long as it’s Ted Cruz.
Did a search on a sentence from the article and found this link which doesn’t have the pay wall:
Note this link starts at Google.
Article’s bottom line: Jeb and Kasich.
Article claims Cruz is a “sideshow act.”
I think the article is nuts.
Go Ted!
We’re around $100 million, plus. We’ll see what kind of “side show” it’ll be.
The end of this month when the FEC numbers are released should be interesting.
