No one can have a doubt about where Ted Cruz stands on the controversy swirling around Indianas Restoration of Religious Freedom Act.
He made it crystal clear Wednesday night.
(VIDEO-AT-LINK)
And in the process the Texas senator called out Republican politicians and the executives of Fortune 500 companies that he said have been running scared from the issue of religious freedom in the face of relentless attacks from the left under the guise of gay rights.
Religious liberty is not some fringe view. It is the basis of this country, Cruz said during a town hall meeting in Sioux City, Iowa, a crucial stop in his campaign to win the Republican nomination for president.
That view has changed, and Cruz told the crowd why he thinks that happened.
Unfortunately the modern Democratic Party has elevated extreme partisanship and in particular this is all part and parcel over the fight over gay marriage, he said.
And because of their partisan desire to mandate gay marriage everywhere in this country, they also want to persecute anyone that has a good faith religious belief that marriage is a holy sacrament between the union of one man and one woman and ordained as a covenant by God.
But Cruz didnt stop at Democrats.
Big business, he said, has been running shamelessly to endorse the radical gay marriage agenda over religious liberties .
Sadly, a whole lot of Republican politicians are terrified of this issue, Cruz said.
Clearly, he isnt one of them.
Cruz 2016!
It’s hard not to like him more every day.
FYI good one for the list.
FINALLY Someone who says what he feels and isn’t afraid to stand by his beliefs. Just another reason that I will be voting for Ted Cruz in 2016..he had my vote before this but I just love him more and more everyday
BOOM!
Cruz or lose.
Republicans are so terrified of being called names by the left that they will bend over backwards to appease the left wing extremists.
I agree completely with the Senator. He is not afraid to call out the unholy alliance between big government and big business.
One hundred years ago, G.K. Chesterton identified big government and big business as "Hudge and Grudge." Hudge and Grudge further their mutual interests by destroying the family, traditional values, and the middle class.
I had been leaning towards Scott Walker, but his silence on religious freedom has moved me to a solid Cruz supporter.
I still say the libertarian atheists are trying to con the Christians into fighting their battle and taking the flak for it.
Hear, hear! Gotta love the clarity of his positions.
I would love to see Cruz start advocating the breakup of the companies that are “too big to fail”.
Any company that is “too big to fail” is too big!
Reagan broke up the monopolies, Cruz could do the same.
What's WRONG with him?
Ping.
Ted Cruz speaks so calmly while lashing out. Liberals scream so loudly while acting reasonable. Amazing how that is.
A leader expressing leadership.
Big business should just focus on quality products and shareholder profit.
I like Walker, I simply prefer Cruz. More daily. I wouldn’t be surprised that Cruz would ask Walker to be his running mate if he wins. It’s his ability to take things like this issue on, articulating it clearly and without fear.
I like that phrase, I think I’ll make it my tagline
Dang straight!
