Down & Out: Dem losses at state-level almost unprecedented, could cripple it for a long time
Slate ^ | December 11, 2014 | Jamelle Bouie

The most immediate consequence of the Democrats’ midterm disaster was losing control of the Senate and ceding Congress to the GOP. For the next two years, Democrats will have to deal with conservative legislation, right-wing hijinks, and—in all odds—a vacancy crisis, as Republicans freeze confirmations and refuse to fill spots in the executive branch and on the federal bench.

That is bad for the Democratic Party. What’s on the horizon is worse. As Amy Walter notes for the Cook Political Report, Democrats lost big at all levels of government, including the states. “Today,” she writes, “about 55 percent of all state legislative seats in the country are held by Republicans. That’s the largest share of GOP state legislators since the 1920s.” What’s more, “just 11 states have an all Democratic-controlled legislature,” and Democrats hold single-party control in just seven states. By contrast, “Republicans have a legislative majority in 30 states, including the battleground states of Florida, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and North Carolina,” and single-party control in most of the South.

This, Walter says, is a slow-moving disaster for congressional Democrats. She’s right. Absent major gains in 2016, 2018, and 2020, Democrats will be shut out of the next round of redistricting. If, she writes, “Democrats can’t get a seat at the redistricting table in 2020, they may find themselves locked out of a congressional majority for another 10 years.” And even if they do get a seat at the table, argues Greg Sargent for the Washington Post, there’s still the problem of population distribution; even in blue states, most Democratic voters are crammed in a handful of urban areas, which dilutes their strength in House elections.....

But I thought a permanent Democratic majority was in the offing after Mr. Obama was elected? What happened? And how far-left do you have to be to think that Andrew Cuomo is a "moderate?"

It is to laugh.

You can cripple politicians but the number of corrupt shysters in the judiciary will fill the gap for the elites. Any law, rule, or regulation, that they don’t like, and, any new rule or law they do like will simply be manufactured or ignored. The lawyers run it all to their advantage.

Nancy Pelosi’s heart is broken yet again. It’s just tragic, I tell ya.

Not to mention alarming. I mean who even knew Pelosi had a heart? Did she grow it just after the election?

If the Dems keep losing will she grow something else? Another eye? A third leg? A hump? The possibilities are endless.

Isn’t this what amnesty is all about?

“What Democrats really need is a massive resettlement program.”

The Democrats are also aborting themselves at a fast pace. Not only do they abort their unborn children more than Republicans, but they have less children than Republicans.

This is why they are hot to trot on Illegal Immigration because this buys them illegal votes to offset the losses.

Remember that La Raza published a list of where voting was possible for Illegals.

The DemocRATS need to rebrand themselves. They need to remove the hammer and sickle from their branding iron.

Is anyone still confused about the GOPe. Well last nights vote should awaken you. What we’re seeing is verification of what we thought. No opposition to the one party that now rules America. We’ve been Grubered from within, soon to be from without. As I have said once before:

Get off your butts and take a few minutes to go to a local Tea Party meeting in your area. Don’t listen to those who want to “Palinize” or criticize the Tea Party for it’s conservative views. The Tea Party in our area supports the best candidates and issues regardless of party.

Think and decide for yourselves, not what the Democrats and Republicans and media want you to think. Get the all the facts and find the real truth. Get to know who your representatives are at all levels and how to conveniently contact (phone, fax, email) them to express your conservative views on any issue. Let them know you are watching them.

Then get involved and make something happen. Get involved in state, local, and federal government politics, from the grass roots level (dog catcher, school board, mayor, state representatives, state governors, representatives, federal representatives, and president) at the top. Work to replace the these liberals with conservatives at all elected government positions.

Personally meet some candidates. Listen to their bullsh*t rhetoric and look for the the fear in their eyes as they are questioned on the issues. Note how effortless some lie and project their arrogant superior knowledge and intelligence (or lack of). Priceless! Note how some are patriots like you who will support your views and concerns.

I support Senator Cruz and others conservative like him because the GOPe never seems to change. It offers us the same old candidates, same old priorities, same old solutions, and same old outcome. Hard to separate the Republican party from the Democratic party at vote time. Face it, we are currently a one party nation desperately in need of a change and redirection. It’s going to take new conservative leadership such as Ted Cruz and others to overcome the damage created by the Obama administration and the RINO republicans and return this nation to what our founding fathers gave us.

Maybe it’s our last chance...

Rand Paul On Shutdown: "Even Though It Appeared I Was Participating In It, It Was A Dumb Idea"
I said throughout the whole battle that shutting down the government was a dumb idea. Even though it did appear as if I was participating in it, I said it was a dumb idea. And the reason I voted for it, though, is that it's a conundrum. Here's the conundrum. We have a $17 trillion debt and people at home tell me you can't give the president a blank check. We just can't keep raising the debt ceiling without conditions. So unconditionally raising the debt ceiling, nobody at home wants me to vote for that and I can't vote for that. But the conundrum is if I don't we do approach these deadlines. So there is an impasse. In 2011, though, we had this impasse and the president did negotiate. We got the sequester. If we were to extend the sequester from discretionary spending to all the entitlements we would actually fix our problem within a few years.

The end of collectivism is coming for both Dems and the GOP-E and they are scared too death about it.

Exactly.

RINOs will pass out goodies for Wall Street (anti-capitalist bailouts and a** covering for their faulty business practices). Nothing will be done about the major issues that got Republicans the big wins (immigration topping the list).

Then in two years we’ll be back to the default setting for American politics: Democrats.

Republicans will nominate a RINO like Romney or Jeb Bush. It’ll be the Democrat and Democrat Lite disguised as a Republican with no option for conservatives. Conservatives will stay home and it’s 8 years more of decline.

We went from 10 trillion to 18 trillion in debt under Obama already. Likely hit 20 trilling before he’s out. Maybe the next idiot president will get us to 40 trillion...

I have already prepared myself mentally for the disappointments that will come from our GOP leadership after the 2014 election.

That being said, I am optimistic and hopeful that many of the GOP's down ticket wins will produce some good candidates and hard working public servants for years to come.

I'll bet those 11 States are broke - AND the most corrupt...
