Ted Cruz Impresses NYC's Jewish Donors in Whirlwind Stopover

Sen. Ted Cruz is in New York City paying visits to some of the nation's most powerful Jewish leaders — including a private two-hour session with billionaire casino owner Sheldon Adelson, the largest donor to Republican causes during the 2012 presidential election — to dispel any concerns about Cruz's politics and electability.

The Texas Republican, a likely candidate for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination, sat by Adelson during Sunday night's Zionist Organization of America dinner, which featured Cruz in a prominent speaking role, reports The New York Observer.

On Monday, after Cruz and Adelson met privately, a source close to the Venetian casino magnate told the Observer that while he likes Cruz, he also believes he is "too right wing" and is likely to be a long shot for the nomination.

Adelson bristled at the characterization, however, telling the newspaper he was "the only one in a position to know how he felt" about Cruz, the Observer wrote in an updated account.

In addition to Adelson, others attending the dinner on Sunday included attorney Alan Dershowitz, Pastor John Hagee, Home Depot founder Bernie Marcus, billionaire Ira Rennert and Rabbis Avi Weiss and Shmuley Boteach, among others.

Many of those attending said they found Cruz, a Princeton Law School graduate, well-spoken and engaging, the Observer reported....

I don’t think the democrats have made up their minds about Hitlary yet. And I certainly have yet to make up my mind about our candidate of choice. Waiting to see who the dems are most afraid of.

He went for undergrad at Princeton but I thought he was a Harvard Law graduate.

Not a big deal to me either way.

Cruz, a Princeton Law School graduate

Pretty tough to do, since Princeton has no law school.

The Law School at the College of New Jersey (now Princeton University) was a department of Princeton University from 1847 until 1852. It began instruction in 1847 as a modest effort consisting of three professors: Joseph Coerten Hornblower, Richard Stockton Field, and James S. Green. Only seven students obtained a law degree before the school closed in 1852. The short-lived experiment was the furthest the university got in a recurring ambition, marked by varying levels of effort, to establish a law school. Previously, in the 1820s, an attempt was made to organize teaching in law, but this plan ended with the death of the designated professor. In 1935, the university once again formed appreciable plans for the start of a law school but was unable to secure a faculty. The desire remained after these unsuccessful efforts but aspirations were relegated to thirsting words rather than material preparations. In 1974, then president of Princeton, William G. Bowen, selected a committee to investigate and advise on the achievability of a law school. The committee recommended plans for a law school be deferred after citing high construction costs.

Even with that little distraction, it was still a pretty good article.

after Cruz and Adelson met privately, a source close to the Venetian casino magnate told the Observer...

Notice how no name is ever mentioned, just “a source close to the person supposedly said this or was heard to repeat that....lies, uttered by a media whose sole intent is to disparage, rundown, twist and thwart any attempt to speak the TRUTH!

Ted Cruz will have a lot to overcome, but I firmly believe that if AMERICANS are actually smart enough to listen and learn, we might just get ourselves one heck of a Presidential candidate! My bumpersticker is already on my car: Ted Cruz for President in 2016!

I don’t think Hillary is going to be that hard to defeat. She’s old, ugly, and festooned with baggage. She has no charisma and her soul attribute is that it’s her turn in line. Bob Dole, McCain, Romney, and Gore were all a bunch of politicians without much whose turn came and sputtered out.

It's going to take a real conservative republican around a billion dollars to defeat Hillary.

There, fixed it.

Estimates are that each major party will need to raise around $1 billion for the 2016 election.

That means that the major candidates will need to announce relatively early. Otherwise, they may find the big money has been pre-allocated to other candidates.

That also means it will be more costly for the wannabes to hire staffs to get them on the ballots in the various state primaries. With some 32 potential candidates on the Republican lists, it is going to take a substantial amount just for the floaters to make it through the early weeks.

I doubt Hillary even gets the nomination.

She got derailed in 2008, and those same factions are working to do the same, should she run in 2016.
