Even before the Republican wave washed over the U.S. on Tuesday night, Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, was signalling his priorities should the GOP gain control of the Senate. In a Washington Post profile last weekend, he was clear: No more Mr. Nice Guy. Republicans should use the new power to be as conservative and confrontational as the GOP-dominated House has been.
Cruz said the first order of business should be a series of hearings on President Obama, looking at the abuse of power, the executive abuse, the regulatory abuse, the lawlessness that sadly has pervaded this administration.
And in a USA Today op-ed last month, where he laid out what the priorities of a GOP-led Congress should be, he wrote that lawmakers should pursue all means possible to repeal Obamacare. We should pass repeal legislation (forcing an Obama veto), and then pass bill after bill to mitigate the harms of Obamacare.
Contrast Cruzs tone and message with that of our states senior senator, John Cornyn, who is set to be the majority whip come January. In a sitdown with the Austin American-Statesmans editorial board last month, he gave a message of compromise:
If we dont meet the challenge, thats the kiss of death for a Republican president in 2016, he said.
Some people have told me that the 2016 election is right around the corner and you are going to have a tough time dealing with people who are aspiring to run for president to cooperate with the majority. The truth is if they dont, then were not going to be able to do anything and well be mired down in the same dysfunction were currently in.(continued)

Cornyn has his good moments, but his biggest problem is that he accepts his opponents premise. You can win when you play their game. You gotta play your own game.
The myth of ‘dysfunction’ by the Republicans should be knocked down, not accepted. Jeez.
Totally wrong strategy. You make a martyr out of him, you’re paving his road to recovery of his relevance and more damned stories from MSM vs Republicans.
Ignore him. Nothing hurts worse. Make him sign bill and veto bills. Beat him politically and intellectually, and don’t throw him a pity party invitation.
I agree. Consider him irrelevant. Don’t make him a martyr.
Unfortunately, justice will never achieved as long as Obama controls the DOJ. After he’s gone, all the overreaches can be pulled back.
Cornyn is a liberal republican. He needs to be removed from office in 6 years.

BULL! He didn`t say impeachment, though I`d sure as hell support that! We The People need to shine a light on all the bullshit that`s happened during this regime`s tenure or we may as well roll over and give it up.
Careful, he's into whipping people and might like that.....

I’m looking forward to that day.
Cruz gonna keep those RINOs honest. ;-)

He didn’t say impeachment and neither did I. You want to hurt Obama, ignore him. Shine no light his way. None. Just get the job done legislating. Investigating scandals is priority #2. Show us some legislation that undoes the years of damage this man has done.
“his biggest problem is that he accepts his opponents premise”
Well said and perceptive.
Obama should be impeached. Do not legitimize him by sending him bills to sign. He should not be signing bills. Sic Ted Cruz on him in hearings and draft the Articles of Impeachment.
We would not have Obamacare now had Ted not been stabbed in the back last year by McConnell, Cornyn, and the rest of the GOPe.
Yes, he should be impeached. Now. That’s settled, so let’s not even talk about it anymore. If the GOP doesn’t actually do something positive for America, the 2014 vote is wasted.
Put another way: Impeachment is not a strategy for governing. So govern.
I don`t give a shit about your precious parties, they`re the problem since they both are addicted to runaway federal power and have no intention of surrendering it. Investigate and damn the rest.
And save your breath with your argument since you have a snow ball`s chance in hell of you convincing me otherwise.
Ted Cruz is right. The American public has given the GOP the majority because they want the Constitution Repubic restored. If they start off passing amnesty its over.
