Harry Reid’s top man tears apart the White House
The Washington Post's Wonkblog ^ | November 5, 2014 | Zachary A. Goldfarb

You almost never see this in politics. David Krone, the chief of staff to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D), launches a major attack on the White House in this blockbuster story by my colleagues Philip Rucker and Robert Costa:

At a March 4 Oval Office meeting, Senate Majority Leader Harry M. Reid (D-Nev.) and other Senate leaders pleaded with Obama to transfer millions in party funds and to also help raise money for an outside group. “We were never going to get on the same page,” said David Krone, Reid’s chief of staff. “We were beating our heads against the wall.”

The tension represented something more fundamental than money — it was indicative of a wider resentment among Democrats in the Capitol of how the president was approaching the election and how, they felt, he was dragging them down.

[...]

Krone sat at a mahogany conference table in the majority leader’s stately suite just off the Senate floor and shared with Washington Post reporters his notes of White House meetings. Reid’s top aide wanted to show just how difficult he thought it had been to work with the White House....

It doesn’t just shake things for 2014....but it really lays out a powerful election in 2016, with meager options for national, state and local guys. And it puts drought conditions up for funding necessary to run a state or national election. It’s harm for the Democrats that won’t be resolved for at least four to six years.

And I should note....what occurs in 2016, is laying out the significant issues of the census in 2020. Let’s say Texas continues on this tirade of getting companies to move there, and California/New York continue to see 1,000 residents per month leave (permanently).

There should have been one guy in the White House with sole responsibility of looking at the 2014 mid-term as far back as 2009, and keeping the President’s priorities at how he helps the party, the agenda, and keeps the message flow at a positive level. They should have been thinking 2010, 2012 and 2014. Instead, it was a White House message, for the benefit of the insiders, and it left all Democrats beyond that point screwed.

When your entire goal and purpose is to "Fundamentally transform the United States of America" and work to destroy it from the inside - one does not worry about such things like looking out for mid-terms and benefits for insiders.

The end-game is all that matters, and Obama has already set up the board in advance, while most of us still think the game is checkers, Obama may yet check-mate us all.

But then, the Dems are not that smart.

You're so right. Without the media going to sometimes obscene lengths to make them appear "even just a little somewhat cognizant," they'd be finished.

“However, depending on just how badly Obama behaves from now on, we’ll see how far the House and Senate will let him go.”

By that, I mean the DEMS in the House and Senate.

Lord knows, he’s done nothing but hurt them.

I don’t think you can. However, I’m going to wait and see just how it squares with those who hold the purse strings.

The dems have to be totally unenamoured with Obama. Tonight was much worse than they feared. The Rinos aren’t the only ones who have their careers in mind.

Valerie Jarrett. That’s who has been in charge.

Then everything still remains the same.

Except for what Harry Reid and the Congressional Democrats may do. They may decide enough already, and ignore Valerie and work directly with the Repubs without any WH input. Obama would rather play golf anyway, and throw Valerie under the bus.

You underestimate Reid’s vision. It’s the same as Jarrett’s. Either that, or he’s a perverted little dictator.

I believe it’s the former, though, and the latter is how he attempts to achieve their goals.

After tonight, their names will be toxic for the dems. At least, Reid’s will be.

And, Reid is a lame duck.

Easy. Executive Orders.

Congress can pass laws negating them, but Obama will veto the laws, and the Republicans will not have 2/3 override in either chanber.

Do you think the other dems will go for that now? One of the big questions is how much of a stomach the dems will have now for an amnesty cramdown. (and we have the surprise Obamacare rate increases soon too)

Boehner and McConnell......two jackasses who protect their power above all else.

We’ll see if they appreciate the base, won’t we?

there is no downside for dems on amnesty. it gives them permanent wins in cali, the southwest, texas and many other urban areas.

Exactly!

After tonight’s political bloodbath, I bet the number of those who remain faithful are few, and far between.

They tried that. It didn’t work out.

Plus, Reid will be extremely lucky to be elected as the minority leader.

honestly i don’t have high hopes unless the leadership is overthrown.

i do enjoy tonight b/c it pisses off obama and the democrats. all liberals can’t stand being reminded most people don’t agree and think like they do.

I don't agree that there is no downside. In order for it to be a winning play, they have to import more votes than they will lose. Current citizens who vote democrat can change their vote. By importing a lot of people to compete with blacks for jobs, they may lose black voters. They can also lose the unemployed, and the poor. They can even lose middle class voters who see it as a cynical play for votes rather than taking care of citizens.

I think it's going to be for the Dem Congress members something like it was for the Repubs during Watergate who went to the WH and told Nixon the game was up.

That is, a similar realization on their part that they can't defer to the president any more and that things have to change, and doing something about it.

I'm reckoning on their instinct for self-preservation.

they dont’ care about the black vote. that demo is deceasing in relative size. they’ve actively kept it low via abortion and destructon of the black family.

the latino demo is a huge growing demo that doesn’t abort their kids and have large families. they give them the southwest and they vote democrat forever. most classify as catholic and on the more social liberal end of the spectrum.

As he looks toward his final two years, Obama is looking toward a Congress with few friends, and many enemies, on both sides of the aisle.

Nevertheless I wouldn't turn my back on this d-bag for a second.
