Ernst snubs Iowa newspaper

Senate candidate Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) has canceled her meeting with the Des Moines Register editorial board Thursday as the paper works to finalize its Senate endorsement.

“Recent editorials in the Des Moines Register make their position in this race perfectly clear, and it’s one that many voters across our state seem to disagree with,” Ernst campaign spokeswoman Gretchen Hamel told the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier in a emailed statement. “With less than 12 days to go, time is precious and Joni wants to spend every minute talking to undecided voters, hearing their concerns, and demonstrating why we need a change in Washington.”

Ernst is smart to avoid gotcha questions from liberal MSM. If gov Palin would have avoided interviews with perky Katie and ABC TV, things could have turned out different.

Absolutely correct. Why any candidate, particularly a Conservative or even a pretend Conservative indulges lib so-called news outlets when the chances are overwhelming that they will be smeared, misquoted, maligned, is simply unfathomable.

Just leave them hanging, they ain’t out to do you any good. Anybody smart enough to be seeking actual information about any candidate should be smart enough not to look for any such information from propaganda sources. There is no reach to anyone who isn’t an idiot via these sources, and those idiots are very, very likely to vote Dem. So why cooperate at all? There is no possible gain to it.

Go Joni go! Take America back! Woo hoo!

Maybe Ernst didn’t want to get the Todd Akin treatment..And why bother with an outfit that once employed the known commie Donald Kaul?

I’m not at all optimistic about this upcoming election for the Senate. Between media fabrications, leftist cultural indoctrination, and election fraud, conservatives don’t stand a chance without at least an 8 point lead.

I know it is not King’s district but if you read the comments section of the DM Register you would think 90% of Iowa hates Steve King.

The Opinion Leader model of voter influence has been dead for a long time now, as have been newspapers. It is about time that candidates ignore newspapers. Only a very narrow slice (very elderly and about to disappear) of the voter population still cares what their local paper thinks about candidate X, Y or Z.

Kaul was a basket of puppies compared to the Stalinists in charge of the Register these days!

I agree with everything you said. The state controlled “media” is not friendly to Americans. It’s better to avoid those clowns.

You parallel my thoughts. It would serve republicans well if they grew a couple and treated MSM like they really are, a tool of the liberals with very few exceptions. But people like McCain have a fetish about getting their face on TV and print news. They just can’t say no.

We here in the 4th Congressional District, Washington state, have a good, principled Conservative candidate in Clint Didier. Clint refuses to be interviewed by one the area's local rags, the "TriCity Herald", because of its well known and unrelenting Liberal bias.

Good for Clint.

It was the Des Moines Register that gave us Jimmy Carter. I´m glad she gave them her backside. THEY are the Main Stream Drive By...after the New York Times. There best days are way past.

“f you read the comments section of the DM Register “

There are about 10 people (the same 10) with nothing else to do that post most of the comments there

Up to the 1980's it was "The Newspaper That Iowa Depends On," but not so much these days. When they lost my mom and dad, I knew they were no longer "depended on." (The folks haven't picked up a Register in at least two decades.)

I originally thought that I would only be voting against Beetle Bailey Brice Barley Bruce Braley, but I have long since decided that I will happily vote for Joni Ernst. She does, indeed, "kick ass"

I am well familiar with that name...Clint Didier.
I live in WA District #2, and voted for B.J.Guillot.

U of Iowa is my alma mater. It was a fine place when I was a student there many moons ago. Now it is a hot bed of PC and liberalism. Sadly. Except perhaps the Engineering college.
