GOP's Terri Lynn Land Gains Momentum in Michigan Sen Race with 'Michigan First' Message
Breitbart ^ | 2 Sep 2014 | Matthew Boyle

A perfect storm is brewing in Michigan that may propel a Republican into the U.S. Senate seat Sen. Carl Levin (D-MI), a Democrat, has held since 1979.

Terri Lynn Land, Michigan’s ex-Secretary of State and a Republican National Committeewoman, is running her U.S. Senate campaign on an aggressive conservative populist message that seems more fit for red state Republicans than a Republican running in a bluish-purple state like Michigan.

A national mood against President Barack Obama is hurting Democrats, especially those who don’t have the luxury of incumbency like Land’s opponent Rep. Gary Peters (D-MI). Package all that together with a series of mishaps Peters and his campaign have made so far, and it puts Land in striking distance two months from election day.

The biggest slip-up by Peters in Michigan—for which he still hasn’t provided an answer—is that he told a group that “immigration reform is not about enforcement.” There is also how Peters claims he is against outsourcing American jobs but actually engaged in the process as Michigan’s lottery chief. Acccording to the Washington Free Beacon, he’s been rolling in the dough, making thousands—potentially more—in profits off of outsourcing by an investment property of his.

If that wasn’t bad enough, Peters has claimed he’s for equal pay for women and men in the U.S. job market but only pays women in his U.S. House office 67 cents for every dollar paid to men who work for him, according to a recent National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) hit on Peters.

Frankly I wish Rick Snyder would run a campaign more like Land's.

We should probably vote for the Democrat. She may sound conservative, but she’s probably not. She is a Republican, after all. If she were elected McConnell would replace Harry Reid and we don’t want that do we? Let’s stick to our guns and insist that Democrats control the Senate in perpetuity, we need to stay mad about something.

She’s not as conservative as I would like but she is an actual step up from the democrats. Plus she hasn’t gone out of her way to antagonize tea partiers.

target of opportunity: comb over. hit the comb over. walk over during a debate and just lift it up.

Oh don’t worry...the Democrat will win. Doesn’t matter what the polls show. In any state or national election in Michigan Wayne county waits until the last possible moment to release their election returns. Magically it’s always enough to tip the scales in favor of the Democrat....no matter how far he or she was behind in the rest of the state. It’s magic I tell ya...

You forget we have a solid secretary of state and attorney general who have really cracked down on vote fraud.

After all, Detroit has a white mayor because the “Whiteout” campaign failed and they were forced to count the votes with oversight.

No we don't centurion316. If you want to "suck ass" on a freakin' RINO who hates 90% of the people on this website, 100% of the Tea Partiers and true Conservatives and has vowed to crush us, helped plan the race-baiting strategy for Cochran and Barbour in MS that disenfranchised the votes of hundreds of thousands of true Conservatives....... then go ahead. But, HELL NO; WE DON'T WANT MITCH McCONELL FOR SML. And just for the record, we can win enough seats to still be the Majority even if McConnell gets his ass handed to him on November 4th. He is a low-life, sorry s.o.b. Makes one wonder about your character by supporting him. Ever heard that "Birds of a feather flock together"?

I am the “you know who” crowd and your attitude is why people like you need to leave the party for the Dems. You would rather compromise with the ems and stick it to people like me.

You can pack it where you want I will not vote for a candidate who values compromising with the Dems over working with someone who has compromised with there own party for years.

As for Terri Lyn Land she has my vote. She does not actively attack the base like your losers that I am belittle for not supporting.

RINO season ends after the primary, it’s a simple concept.

Get the most conservative candidate you can find nominated, then work to get them elected.

Sometimes you have to hold your nose in Nov and pull the lever when the most conservative doesn’t get nominated, as is the case with Land. You can primary them next time if they don’t toe the line.

I’m not a moderate, but taking the Senate this year is too important for protest votes or staying home.

I can’t stand Snyder, but he did sign RTW, and took my recommendation on filling an open Judgeship and even sent me a nice letter thanking me for the advice once he selected him. I’ll be holding my nose and voting for him too.

I have been holding my nose for years and it just keeps getting worse. I say enough is enough already. If you attack the base you don't get my vote period.

Like I said I will be voting for Terri Land in the fall. I will not vote for my congressman in the fall.

The current leadership is weak and must go. If you can not get what you were elected to do or even stand up and at least voice opposition to it why would it change when you have the majority? We have seen where opposition has work from just a small vocal minority has worked. Supporting the terrorist in Syria is an example of this. But the current leadership attacks the politicians whop do this. So I can not vote for the current rino and I will not vote for them.
