On Wednesday, Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) took to the Senate floor and warned that universal background checks could lead to a national registry system for guns.
"Some of the proposals, like for example- universal background checks- would allow the federal government to surveil law-abiding citizens who exercise their Constitutional rights. One of the provisions we expect to see in the bill based on what we saw in the Judiciary Committee- on which I sit- would allow the Attorney General of the United States (Eric Holder) to promulgate regulations that could lead to a national registry system for guns. Something my constituents in Utah are very concerned about, and understandably so," said Sen. Lee.

Lee also said that the government has place monitoring the legal exercise of any Constitutional right a citizen chooses to exercise.....

Cloture vote is scheduled for 11 PM tonight.
Check that. It's 11 AM Eastern tomorrow.
It is just about time for CWII
A old Nazi trick. A list of who has guns is exactly what they want.
I would prefer some sort of peaceful secession. The idea that it would be peaceful is probably a pipe dream, but I know one thing......we will never fix this mess at the ballot box. Period. Demographics are against us.
Peaceful secession is much the preferred answer.
I agree with a peaceful resolution. I am on the verge of moving away from one the most conservative areas of PA. I just want to move to a place that will respect my freedom and liberties. I doubt that place exists because it has become almost universal that government solves all problems.
” A list of who has guns is exactly what they want.”
here is what i don’t know. don’t they already have a data base of some sort for everyone who buys a gund from a federally licensed dealer?
I know the police can find out who owns a gun if the serial numbers are still visible.
Don't hold your breath. Those 30,000 drones, 1.6 billion rounds and 2,600 VRAPs soon to be in the hands of Obama's DHS army, in addition to whatever they bring in from DoD are in place for exactly that purpose.
I’m in Kentucky. Gun rights is heavily respected and watched over here, but it is has proprietary politics like West Virginia. Kentuckians seem to want both guns and food stamps at the same time. You can count on one hand the number of GOP govenors this state has had to this day.
The process was a backward trace through the gun dealers. Not direct index of gun owners.
Not sure the they have not found an illegal way to circumvent.
We must never trust the ComDems they lie 24/7 and nothing they say will change that.
It is fascinating to me that the Congress of the United States is leaning toward these universal background checks against ordinary citizens wishing to exercise their Second Amendment rights, but refuse to examine the backgrounds of the POTUS or any member of Congress.
Even more fascinating is the fact that IF a universal background check is passed, it will violate both our Fourth and Fifth Amendment rights in addition to potentially violating our Second Amendment rights.
At the current rate, before this current term term is up, I am sure that zero will find a cause that will encourage him to violate ALL of the Bill of Rights in a single issue!!
You are probably right. He could probably justify nulifying the whole thing in the midst of some gigantic SHTF/WROL situation. Gee, this Korea thing just happens to be at the right time doesn’t it? /sarc
Those drones, bullets and weapons only get used one at a time. The DHS doesn’t stand a chance against well arms Americans. They may be able to control large cities filled with worthless minorities and illegal aliens that have no ability to thing, but fly over country is filled with smart, pragmatic, gun owning veterans with combat experience.
Canada just threw out their Gun Registry ,but when the US gets theirs they will never get the chance to throw it out
They take a vote on that at their peril not ours.
