From Alaska to Georgia, Sarah Palin has pursued a familiar political path this year, endorsing Republican candidates and picking up political chits.
Potential presidential candidates have done that in midterm campaigns for more than a generation, often disclaiming any interest beyond helping their party or, in her case, the GOP women she calls "Mama Grizzlies."
"That's not where my focus is," she said recently when asked about 2012 on Fox News Sunday.
She may have scored a notable success in helping oust Sen. Lisa Murkowski in Tuesday's Alaska GOP primary, but overall her record has been mixed. She helped Nikki Haley win the Republican nomination for governor of South Carolina but failed in a similar effort for Karen Handel in Georgia. One congressional backer of Handel's rival noted pointedly that Georgians could do "their own thinking on things like this."
But while the former Alaska governor often sounds and looks like a presidential candidate, her failure to pursue other aspects of the presidential playbook has created significant doubts about her intentions.
The consensus in the political community is that former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney and Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty will run in 2012. But it's sharply split on what Palin will do, though she'd almost certainly rank among the GOP favorites.
The arguments in favor of her running are obvious:
She's the best known and most outspoken GOP opponent of President Barack Obama and, in a fairly drab field, the most charismatic. She creates more enthusiasm among the faithful than potential rivals.

bump for later
As Rush often says, “the left will tell you who they fear.”
Her record was “mixed” in that she won some, lost some - but the wins outnumber the losses by about 2:1.
But in terms of influence her endorsements were unprecedented, at times. Even many that lost in the end were given a huge bump. That is solid gold.
To be honest: I hope not.
And here’s why: many of the supporters of Palin come off as a cult of personality. These Palinites are to ‘republicans’ what the Obots are to Obama and his regime.
We need to win, not with people/names/celebrities, but within the *ideas* that people [our leaders in particular] use in their lives. Not in the “interface” (what people show the outside), but on the “implementation” (what goes on inside).
Man, the left/media is obsessed with her.
Exactly why I support Palin. A political leader with ideas, conservative in life and politics, with huge political talent and skill.

To read her book “Going Rogue” is to know this woman...I highly recommend to anyone who wants to know what Sarah is all about.
Count Von Leubsdorf has spoken!
Please fill us in on your candidate for 2012. And we’re all tired of the “it’s too early” cop-out. With a crypto-Muslim Marxist Hell-bent on destroying the country in the White House, it’s never too early to plan on his departure...
A one winged shark can only swim in circles either spiroling up or down but never moving forward. I like Sarah because she spoke about heart felt opinions on the issues that we were concerned about.
Then again, I like others were extremely disappointed in her paying homage to Juan McSlime just because he propelled her to the national stage.
I do not do celebrity. Never watched Survivor, American Idol or the rest of the endless line of crap being foisted upon the public as entertainment, much less, reality entertainment. In all cases when I size someone up for my personal judgment, I look to their eyes while they are speaking. It is true that it is the gateway to the soul.
If you don’t like her, I can accept that but impugning those who like her, for whatever reason only goes to show you are simply spiroling downwards.
I just vomited all over my keyboard.
The sniping of left wing media whores will not determine the final decision. As their heroes the muzzies say, "the dogs bark, the caravan moves on."
Let me get this straight. You don’t like Palin, therefore there is something wrong with all those that do...
Did I get that right? It’s difficult for us Palinites to understand the deep thought and wisdom that you TRUE conservatives possess, so you have to explain it to us in detail.
Otherwise, were just too STUPID to get it.
You know, I hear that kind of CRAP from MSNBC and the rest of the liberals all the time. Let me guess, youre one of the 1% of republican primary voters that voted for Duncan Hunter last election and you are still angry about it?
By all means, share your pearls of wisdom and point us to the leader that has been busting obamas chops for the last year. Outside of DeMint, nobody else is even close.
Ill take a Palin/DeMint ticket anyday.
Very nice!!!
