Explanation:
Full of itself moon -
EVERYONE SHOULD LOOK AT ME.
What's 33 years?
And for those who need a story ... photographer Blake Suddeth took over a hundred digital pictures early Tuesday morning in order to capture this single, gorgeous 10 second exposure of a "Leonid of the Lake" meteor flashing by a very full of itself moon. The dreamlike foreground lake and fog are courtesy of Greenwood, South Carolina, USA.
TOPICS: Astronomy; Astronomy Picture of the Day; Science
KEYWORDS: astronomy; fog; image; leonid; meteor; moon; photography; south; southcarolina; space; water
Astronomy Fun Fact:Though the Leonid meteors have put on a show about every 33 years, we may not see another decent shower in our lifetimes. Jupiter will perturb comet Temple-Tuttle away from the Earth in 2029 and it may not be until the latter part of the 21st century or the early stages of the 22nd century before the Leonids once again dominate the sky.
