WASHINGTON, Sunday, April 17.
The reports in a New-York Sunday paper of the perilous condition of the President's health, are fortunately without foundation at this writing. Mr. LINCOLN and Speaker COLFAX will probably visit Baltimore to-morrow evening, by invitation, to assist at the opening of the Maryland Sanitary Fair.
THE SENATE GOLD BILL IN THE HOUSE.
A strenuous effort will be made by the friends of Mr. CHASE to pass the Senate Gold Bill in the House early next week. It will be bitterly opposed by both Democrats and Republicans, but there are not enough of either to defeat it.
REDUCTION OF SALARIES OF TAX-COLLECTORS.
The reduction in the Tax Bill of the salaries of Collectors of Revenue has brought quite a number of them here, for the purpose of getting the old rates restored. Both the Secretary of the Treasury and the Commissioner of Internal Revenue favor the reduction, and Congress will not, therefore, interfere. The Ways and Means Committee came very near reducing the salaries of Assessors also.
THE BANK BILL.
The vote on the Bank Bill will be the first thing in order to-morrow. The bill, as it stands, allows States to impose a tax upon the banks. The clause making the interest uniform in all States is retained. The bill in its present shape will pass by a small majority.
GEN. KILPATRICK ON HIS WAY TO MEMPHIS.
Gen. KILPATRICK arrived here to-night on his way to Memphis, where he will report to Gen. SHERMAN. Gen. WILSON succeeds to the command of the Third Cavalry Division. A large party of officers attended Gen. KILPATRICK to Brandy Station this morning, and the parting scene is said to have been an affecting one.
