They’re actually planning to have the big banks run it for them, at least at first (fascism, anyone?), with tokenized deposits. But all the arbitrary social credit, restrictions, shutoffs, etc., should work just fine from there.

The real reason for the Revolutionary War was a revolt against the Bank of England. The Founders hated the idea of central banks.
It has been underway for a very long time. It began with writing checks, wire transfers, credit cards, online bill pay etc. I just paid all my bills and expenses online. Never touched so much as a penny the last month so far as physical currency is concerned.
