The Super Bowl marks the year's biggest day for advertising, with top brands paying millions to get their messages in front of a television audience that reliably attracts more than 100 million viewers.
Over the years, the cost of a 30-second advertisement has soared, making the Super Bowl the costliest advertising venue on TV. Because the Super Bowl is one of the few events that draws an audience of this size, companies are willing to shell out millions to promote their brands during NFL showcase. This year's crop of Super Bowl ads will feature dozens of top brands, from Anheuser-Busch's iconic Clydesdales to Uber Eats' spot featuring Jennifer Aniston and Victoria and David Beckham. If you answered that the cost of a 30-second ad this year is $7 million, you're right. That's about on par with last year's game, but represents a 55% jump from 2019.

It is the biggest TV audience of the year by far so reaching that audience will cost more. Viewers also make a point of watching ads during the Super Bowl.
Market forces.
What’s a Super Bowl?
Won’t be watching.
Tomorrow will be the largest Super Bowl viewing audience of all time. It may even surpass the Apollo 11 moon landing for the largest TV viewing audience of all time.
“Viewers also make a point of watching ads during the Super Bowl.”
I HATE HATE HATE commercials and always mute them. My wife leaves them on, so I’m always grabbing for the remote.
Super Bowl ads used to be good (maybe 30 or 40 years ago), but the quality has really gone downhill. No matter to my wife - she told me yesterday “NO MUTING the TV during the Super Bowl commercials!”

Wow! 100 million viewers!
That’s Tucker Carlson territory.

Some rookie named Taylor Swift. I don’t know what position he plays.
The Chiefs.
No idea. But then again, I'm a Lions fan.

Yep! I've resigned myself to the fact that I've now aged out of the preferred advertising demographic. Kinda why I was LOL'ing at this thread and all the geriatric geezers lamenting that we don't have high school marching bands playing old-timey patriotic songs during the halftime show any more.
Why Don’t Rock Bands Play the Super Bowl Halftime Show Anymore?
When I was a Journalism major—adverting back in the late 1960s, we always had a project where we would recommend an ad campaign that included a media buy. A commercial on the Super Bowl was always a must-have, and we had to do the research to find out the cost of a 30 second spot. IIRC it was about one million dollars in 1968.

The best thing about the Super Bowl is that 60 percent of the people are sitting in front of televisions and the rest of the world is sitting empty for people who want to go for a drive or a hike.
The Chiefs.
