Is It Time to Scrap the Term ‘Evangelical’?
New American Prophet ^ | January 22, 2024 | Dr. Michael Brown

Posted on 01/21/2024 11:43:54 PM PST by Rev M. Bresciani

There are many followers of Jesus in America today who do not describe themselves as “Christians.” It is not because they are ashamed of their faith. Instead, it is because the word “Christian” has become so diluted that almost anyone can call themselves a Christian, regardless of how they live or what they believe. To say, “I’m a Christian” does not necessarily convey a specific set of beliefs or moral standards, and this has been the case in America for many years now.

The world will hate believers no matter the term. So, let us shine our light for Christ. When persecution comes count, we count it as a privilege for His sake.

Most of the devout Christians I knew who were okay with being called evangelical were also proud of being non-denominational. So what else to call them since they believe that all organized Protestant sects are no longer Christian.

For sure.

No one has come up with a better term as of yet. Son yours is the best option.

I think it’s time to make MSM’s reporting and bias against it irrelevant. They (leftists) always like to talk about separation of church and state (although there isn’t a clear directive in the Constitution other than “Congress shall make no laws....”). How about ‘separation of church and press?’

Hmmmmm...incrementally conforming to socio-political norms and then relabeling who you want to be known as.

Sounds so very “progressive” (e.g., communist).
I’ll pass.

Chuchianity is alive and well in ‘merica... The Way is said to be out there somewhere, but it’s mostly inside the believer.

“ almost anyone can call themselves a Christian, regardless of how they live or what they believe”

No one is perfect but it’s become sickening watching the perverse and demented masquerade

I totally agree with you. Let’s don’t let them usurp this word as they have stolen “the rainbow” (🌈 God’s sign of a promise to us is now the symbol of breaking God’s commandments, and something abhorrent to our Lord and His followers.)

Anyone can call themselves anything. Always has been.

No reason to abandon the title Christian.

It does not matter what term you use. The left is masterful at manipulating the language to suit their agenda. Example: genital mutilation = “gender affirming care”.

Can you define “Evangelical”, and “Christian”?

And then can any of us live up to that?

Evangelical: A form of Christian (Generally a Protosant though there are Evangelical Catholics) who believes the primary focus of a Christian is evangelism of the unsaved.

Christian: Basically the Nicene Creed. Someone who believes that Jesus has died for their sins. He was crucified, died, and rose again. That he is the only son of the only God. Not a prophet, not a good man but uniquely 100% man and 100% God.

That he will return again, to judge the world of it’s sin
