Scientists have discovered that 75 percent of the US - home to hundreds of millions of Americans - is at risk of damaging earthquakes.
The US Geological Survey (USGS) released the latest National Seismic Hazard Model that included 350 newly discovered fault lines since the previous model in 2018 - bringing the total to about 1,000 faults.
The updates increased chances of disastrous earthquakes in the central and northeastern 'Atlantic Coastal corridor' that is home to Washington DC, Philadelphia, New York and Boston.

Tornadoes and hurricanes suck too, but at least we know when they’re coming.

I was in the 89 Loma Prieta quake. I was at Stanford Labs in a research building for a joint meeting when it hit. Many ran for under tables and many for under door jambs. I got pushed out into a hallway where I watched as books and stuff from offices got shaken out into the hallway. It stopped for a few seconds and I high tailed it down two floors to the outside. I saw some massive cracks in the poured concrete walls on the way down....
Felt two in California. Not big ones but enough some glasses fell off shelves etc. One in Ohio. Very minor — had to go online to verify it was real and not just a semi driving by too close.
