Scientists have identified a previously unknown fault line in Canada, raising concerns about a potential tsunami threat for over a million Americans in the Northwestern U.S.
The fault, named XEOLXELEK-Elk Lake Fault (XELF), spans approximately 50 miles through British Columbia, as reported by the Daily Mail.
The fault's discovery, made by a team including Nick Harrichhausen, a postdoctoral researcher at the Université Grenoble Alpes in France, highlights its potential to trigger a significant earthquake in Canada.
Harrichhausen stated that the fault's structure could induce a tsunami in the region surrounding the Georgia Basin, affecting Washington State and British Columbia areas.

Yes, and Yellowstone could erupt in the next 10,000 or more years. Personally, I think we should be more worried about a major midwest or east coast earthquake.

Yes, that one and others. Look at the history of large midwest and eastern earthquakes, such as the 7.3 magnitude quake on September 1, 1886, in Charleston, S.C. Heck, imagine a 5.2 in New York City, the last of that size there was in 1884 and prior to that in 1737.
Fear this fault line!!!! It has been there not giving anybody any trouble for a lo-o-o-o-o-ng time so everybody get hysterical about it now.
I’d just settle for less lake effect snow.
I live on the Woodbine fault line in TX. It runs all the way to Pleasanton south of San Antonio. Still an oil play all the way.

Lived directly across the Hwy from the Elk Lake in the article during my teens. The front door of the house was 200 feet from the lakeshore. I would carry the canoe across the road and stay in the 1300+ acre park/lake all day all summer long.
We weren’t rich, but boy were those some seriously good times.
