Lived directly across the Hwy from the Elk Lake in the article during my teens. The front door of the house was 200 feet from the lakeshore. I would carry the canoe across the road and stay in the 1300+ acre park/lake all day all summer long.
We weren’t rich, but boy were those some seriously good times.
