The terrifying rhetoric of COP28
American Thinker ^ | 8 Dec, 2023 | Chris Talgo

With the holiday season in full swing, most Americans are not paying close attention to the latest UN climate change conference -- COP 28 -- which is currently taking place in Dubai. I get it; the vast majority of Americans are busy preparing for family gatherings, shopping for presents, and attending holiday festivities. They have neither the time nor the energy to follow the daily happenings at a climate change conference halfway around the world.

However, the American people must be made aware of what exactly is occurring at COP28 simply because the ideas and policies being espoused by the hundreds of global leaders attending the annual event are downright terrifying and would cause undue harm to billions of people.

The conference began on an ominous note when UN secretary general Antonio Guterres declared that we must “ultimately stop burning all fossil fuels. Not reduce. Not abate.”

Guterres is demanding that we eliminate all use of fossil fuels in short order, not over many decades, but just years from today. However, that is literally impossible and would destroy the lives of billions of people who depend on fossil fuels daily.

According to the left-leaning Environmental and Energy Study Institute, “Fossil fuels -- including coal, oil, and natural gas -- have been powering economies for over 150 years, and currently supply about 80 percent of the world’s energy.”

In other words, Guterres, who surely knows that more than 80 percent of the world’s energy is currently derived from fossil fuels, is calling for the economic and social regression of humanity.

You can bet that none of these “global leaders” expect to be impacted themselves.

A world without fossil fuels would be a very different place, completely unrecognizable to what we have grown accustomed to. Travel would be nearly impossible. Manufacturing would be severely crippled. Our daily life would be turned upside down. The technologies and almost everything we rely upon to make life comfortable would vanish in an instant. Simply put, we would literally go back to a pre-industrial existence.

It's pretty amazing that they don't know this.

Of course they know this. That’s EXACTLY why they’re doing it.

I find it to be more than a bit hypocritical that these pointy headed population reducing people refuse to reduce the population by doing themselves in

--- "Fossil fuels -- including coal, oil, and natural gas...."

.... are hydrocarbon fuels, not "fossil." The misuse of words is what the current Leftists have as weapons.

Ever tried burning a fossil?

Yep. Control the food and the fuel and you control the people.

That is until they are hunted down.

have been powering economies for over 150 years,

Not exactly right.
Coal (in areas where it was easy to mine) have been used for heating since stone age.
The industrial revolution (since 1775) was all powered by coal!
Steel manufacturing on large scale, steam engines, railroads, steamboats - all powered by coal.
The rich areas in 19th century were all concentrated around coal deposits.

If they are serious then I suggest the start now, abandon their private jets and start walking home.

It is terrifying. I don’t think we’re taking it seriously enough, because we just assume that it’s so crazy nobody would sign onto it.

But the problem is that most of our “world leaders” already have signed up for it...or signed us up.

It will be imposed by force and maintained by an iron hand.

Does anyone even believe all these elites demanding changes like this are going to give up their private jets, limos or 20,000 sq ft mansions?

No. The elites believe that they will live as gods over what remains of the dirty and ignorant masses.

None of the rich people will be affected because they will just fly off on their private jets to their gated communities.

FYI, I was just on Google maps looking at Ketchum, ID. This is also known as Sun Valley. Rich people like Arnold, John Kerry, Bruce Willis and many others have houses there. I zoomed in on the airport just south of town. I counted twelve private jets parked on the side of the airport when the satellite picture was taken. There were many other smaller planes too. This is not a big airport.

This is one of the places where they have a conference in the summer. All the important billionaires attend. The logistical problem is that there is NOT enough space at the airport to park all the private jets that fly in. Many have to drop off their important people and then fly the jet over to Boise or Twin Falls air base and park it there.

It’s amazing that the “climate change” people don’t know by now that there really is no such thing as a “fossil fuel”. These people are the real FOSSILS thinking as they do. CO2 is not a pollutant in the quantities we experience & never has been. Where did these “climate experts” go to school? Of course, I really do think(or at least hope) that they actually know better & are actually peeing down our leg & trying to convince us it’s raining. Most of us know better.

I think they have a vision of themselves living as in the glory days of Biltmore.

The Vanderbilt’s and their guests lived like royalty and the “lower class” served them, fed them and kept them warm.

A visit to Biltmore will impress you as to how much they admired and tried to duplicate the living conditions of European royalty. Much of the mansion consists of mantles, furniture and art brough over from European castles.

In short, they are dreaming the dreams of a child.

And that was a hunting lodge!

They know it. They aren't stupid but they are evil ideologues.

In "The Gulag Archipelago" Solzhenitsyn said that even Shakespeare's most evil villains stopped their killing at about a dozen souls. To exceed this ideologues are required. The ideology is the justification, the get out of jail free card that allows wholesale evil to exist and perfuse.

They know exactly what they are doing or want to do and they know it is wrong but justified by their ideology. They are saving mankind in their minds but they are also leaving more for themselves. They are also frightened little men with too much power and money.

The problem in a world gone mad is there is just too much ME and hardly any YOU, US or WE.

Agreed. This is why the "media" is so daily invested in selling "climate change" to the rubes, thinking none will think twice. So it was with another "big lie." So is it with this "big lie."

I used to read some of the "abiotc" research being conducted in t Scandinavia, because the notion of hydrocarbons forming under pressure is no more unusual than diamonds and other gemstones being formed in that manner.
