My 1996 Park Avenue was the best long trip car I ever had. Engine went 325,000 miles before a head gasket took her soul. You really never even knew by sound or vibration if the engine was running? Like driving on carpet. No road noise as well.

I bought it in 2008 with a bad transmission, which turned out to be a $12 sensor deep inside the transmission. A dealer charges $4500 for the repair. I put in a week long labor effort and changed out the sensor after dropping the transmission and getting inside thru the pan and a couple wrenches I cut and welded specific to reach it.

Great $912 purchase that lasted me 12 years.

I really hope they still make that engine!

My dad had a 1970 Monte Carlo. Wish I had it now.

Fun fact, the reason GM bought saab is because they had more experience with turbo engines than any other car maker, In fact the trionic ignition system was the most advanced commercially engine management system in existence.

Then the bean counters at GM decided it was too expensive put a front cover gasket in the engine of the saab 9-5 so they used sealant instead which caused massive oil leaks just after the warranty expired and the only way to fix it was to pull the engine take the front cover off and put an actual gasket in it.

Hadn’t seen one before and pulled up beside one a a redlight just yesterday. They’re nice looking, reminded me of maybe a smaller BMW X6. I came home and googled the name, saw the 1.2 liter engine, 136HP, nope, not for me.

I just watched a YouTube video about this car. The model sold in China gets a 185hp 4 banger, but the ones sold in America the 128hp 3 cylinder. Just for that reason alone I’d not buy one.

“ The old 3.8L OHV v6 Buick use to make was a great motor. Not sure I would trust anything from them now as those days are done.”

Yes! The power of a V6 with the fuel efficiency of a 4cyl. I owned 3 in my life and the were awesome! I was so disappointed they quit making it that I bought a Ford in 2009. Ford’s v6 was smaller less powerful and got 6mpg less.

Or maybe they should just label it a Buick Trabant.

I’m really sick and tired of automakers just rolling over and accepting the government mandates without a fight. They think they can just keep shove extra costs and consequences off on consumers. It is way last time we fought back and fought back furiously over it.

"...1.2 liter engine, 136HP..."

.

A golf cart, basically.
A stylish, spiffy, expensive golf cart.
