The latest offering from Buick is the 2024 Envista, a stylish and roomy alternative to traditional boxy SUVs that offers a swoopier roofline much like more expensive alternatives from upscale German brands.
With its sleek profile, seating for five and the practicality of a hatchback design, the subcompact Envista also happens to be Buick’s cheapest model for the 2024 model year — even though it’s about a foot longer than Buick’s other subcompact SUV, the boxier Encore GX. What you don’t get, however, are the availability of all-wheel drive or any powertrain options other than the standard turbocharged 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine. For either of those, you’ll need to look at the Encore GX; the Envista is front-wheel drive only.

Too bad, I really liked my father's buick. Much better than today's cars.
When purchasing a car, really the only thing I care about is the roof line. Oh, and of course the color. /s
The old 3.8L OHV v6 Buick use to make was a great motor. Not sure I would trust anything from them now as those days are done.
Nearly everyone is pushing out these undersized gas motors with turbos because they will not stand up against government cafe standards.
Those motors will not last as long and be higher maintenance.
If it doesnt say Honda or Toyota on it, I say forget it.

That's an easy 'no thanks'. Maybe if you strung three of them together to get 3.6 liters I might be interested.
Or maybe they should just label it a Buick Trabant. Late model Trabants had a 4 cycle 1.04 liter engine on a smaller, lighter vehicle.
Why do we have SUVs? Blame it on the government, of course.
CAFE standards killed off station wagons, which were rather popular. However station wagons had worse mpg than the equivalent sedan. Therefore, automakers had to kill them off as meeting CAFE standards was and is very hard and they have to do all kinds of nonsense to meet them.
After they were killed off, I believe it was Ford, that first came up with a solution. Light trucks have a lower CAFE standard than cars. So, to meet the customer need for station wagons, a vehicle was designed to meet the light truck criteria, but was really a station wagon - Ford Explorer. And presto, everyone has SUVs. And, sedans are eliminated because it is easier to meet the Light Truck standard and people like the SUV (station wagon) better than a sedan.
My dad was retired career Navy, and me and my buddies were going to buy a bunch of cans of gray spray paint and paint it, put a pair of cleats on each front and rear fenders, and paint a hull number on it (DD-857 would've been my choice!)

I would say that since the 90’s then the newer they get- the less reliable they get. And they become far more expensive to repair.
I thought the Envista was made in China. It’s not.
It’s made by the Chinese in South Korea.

we had an electra 225, bench seat in the back I could slide my 4 12” speaker Peavey amp into the back.

And I liked my 1990 Olds Cutless Supreme, even if it was a 4-door.
I liked my Monte Carlo...1984 I think.
